The reason I was asking for this is I plan to make templates for the KitFox type rib tails. When I got my plane, one wing had ALL the Flapperon Hangerons broken off. I originally was going to fix them with wood and later decided I liked the KitFox aluminum setup much better.

Since I am an EAA member, I downloaded (and plan to learn how to use) Solid Edge. Fortunately, our company has an ME that knows Solid Works and could probably help me get started with Solid Edge. Coincidentally we both share the name Keith.

A big THANK YOU to Jim Chuk

EDIT: If I get workable templates made for all the parts, I certainly will post them on the forum.

Hey Jim I copied the first page to photos on my IPad and printed it out measuring the mouth that fits over the spar it looks good and I will verify it with my spare at the airport hopefully later today.

I traced out a rib on 5 pieces of copier paper that were taped to a table,  Also will try to post a few pictures showing the exact length of the rib.  That way if you copy and print off the sketches and tape them back together, you can double check if yours are the right length.  If your printer isn't printing full scale, it could be wrong size.  JImChuk

PS  not sure if this will work if you copy the images and then print them out.  If someone tries, let me know how it worked.

Good idea Nick.  I'll see if I can do it.  Only problem may be if some one prints it out and their printer is not printing exactly to same size/scale.  I did measure the rib for an end to end length, I'll see if I can post the pictures I took as well.  JImChuk

PS  I did post them in the files and forms,  not sure it will work if you copy the images, and then print them out.  If some one tries, please let me know if it worked.

Just a few days ago, I traced out a rib on 5 sheets of printer paper taped down on a table.  Scanned the sheets and sent them to some one on facebook.  They could print them out, tape them back together and have a rib pattern.  Private message me your email and I'll send them to you.  JImChuk

    Jim

Maybe you could post the rib pattern scan in the Files and Forms section for posterity.

Hey guys. I apologize for asking something so obvious but I looked for quite some time and couldn't find it.

I"m looking for an Excel Sheet or table of plot points for a Stol wing WITH ribtails for the flaperons. A 1:1 drawing or template would help also. I"m pretty sure it's already in the forum somewhere but I can't find it.

    THANKS

I haven't flown my gear yet, but the design is in this post on my thread.  http://avidfoxflyers.com/index.php?/topic/7354-another-kitfox-iv-rebuild-project/&do=findComment&comment=68547

This is a thread on my ponderings about the gear and my design of it. http://avidfoxflyers.com/index.php?/topic/7688-fuselage-landing-loads-kitfox-iv-and-cabane-gear/

The landing gear is shown in this picture. FYI, I'm about ready to get the engine running again, and then small stuff before it flies again.

Hi there, it seems that most of the modified gear welders are out of business now and none of them are located in Europe, so I am thinking of having a welder here to build me an extended gear for my Avid MKIV. Would any member of the forum be willing to share some technical drawings of an existing solution?

I definitely want to set it up as a tailwheel. There is going to be some detective work when I get it home.  The current owner told me that the original owner had plans to remake the wings into speed wings and there are two sets of landing gear.  I'm sure that other mysteries will turn up.

The Polini 303 engine that I tried to use was just too light for the CG. Just bought a rebuilt 503 to install. May be old tech, but still reliable as can be.

fantastic, I am excited to see/hear your cat in the air. Also I'd love to see your final W&B with the 582 engine fitted....see the difference with my 912 setup. Let me know if I can help you in any way for your 1st flight;)

    P.s :phase 1 radius 500NM?

I picked up a 912 radiator, and started looking at the mods to the radiator speed fairing- it's a total rebuild. Which made me start figuring.. So, can anyone tell me why the cooling area of the vaunted 912 radiator is actually *smaller* by two square inches than the 582 radiator, which fits the speed fairing?  And how that makes it better?  Extra capacity by a few ounces in the side chambers can be cured, and I don't think the heat flow differential of two inches in height is going to make that much of a difference.

I had all the measurements for the "bigger" 912 radiator, but hadn't sized the "smaller" 582 radiator.  Still spending time learning about radiators, thinking I may go the 582 route. Any thoughts?  Anyone have experience with those 2-row ebay 582 radiators?

    There's always sometHing.

    Thanks, Jack

We have here in France an exceptionnaly mild and calm autumn weather. Yesterday I  made a flight from my home airfield in Paris area to the Loire valley and back (a 4 hours flight with an intermediate stop in Amboise (LFEF).
