    Stuck Ignition/Starter Switch (Keyed)
My start switch (keyed) is stock in the ON position.  Before I try to cut off the key (in order to get this off) is there another way to break this free (pull out the barrel etc)?
It is a 3 position, 5 pin switch (OFF, ON and START).
You can just see it in the upper left portion of the image below.  Just a basic key switch, as supplied in the original KitfoxIII kit.

    Yuck.
That's quite a sad display of customer service. I have recommended AVEMCO to countless people and one such stupid act can make one regret that.
I'd be somewhat surprised if this wasn't "fixed" within reasonable time...

    Can you relate to this?
Ran across this on the Supercub site and grabbed it.  Probably goes well with the picture I posted of the "most interesting man in the world" last week.  Jim Chuk

    About to drop Avemco
I recently had to cancel my debit card due to Fraudulent charges. Despite me trying for 2 years to have my insurance payment come straight from my bank account, they are the only bill I have that still require a Visa card to run for payment. I haven't missed a payment in 6 years. So when my payment didn't clear the other day because the card was just closed did they call? Nope. Did they email me? Nope despite me ensuring they had the right address and for it to be my primary means of contact the last time I had an issue.
What they did do was send a notice of policy cancellation in the mail within 3 days of the declined payment.
One more thing that I don't need to deal with while deployed half way around the world. Not looking forward to eating up Skype credit and making a phone call in the middle of the night to make a payment on a different card till my new one arrives from the states. Time to start shopping for someone else.

Not a bad weekend.  I found some time to work on the Airdale.  Well, she is looking naked and sexy ... I stripped off ALL the fabric from the fuselage.  Engine, engine mount and firewall off.  Next up is the removal of all the control cables, push rods and foot pedals.  Then the rebuilding begins.  : )   The photos were take before I finished all the work today.  Tomorrow I will pick up some MEK ... apparently, that is what I will need to clean up the light residue on some of the steel tubing.

    Smoke System
Saw in another thread you guy said the smoke system is very simple. This is something I would like to learn about. Things like is the pump High pressure, Does the oil spray through a injector nozzle or does it just drip in. Where is the sweet spot to mount the nozzle.

I hear ya, and it is good practice to run the same materials back to the gauge if you can.  Just trying to highlight if the wires used (any material) are at a singe temp (or same temp at each end) no voltage is generated and you have the same result as the primary wires.  I have seen several commercial systems run plain copper in isothermal areas.

Well, not really.  In one you've got copper/chromel, the other is copper/alumel.  Each has a different Seebeck voltage.  This is the reason extension wire exists.  At the instrument, the terminals should be isothermal and have the errors calibrated out.

Cant really tell for sure (probably just copper or similar).  If not in a temperature gradient (wires isothermal) they can be any type of wire (no Seebeck voltage generated).  shouldn't have any temp gradients where they are located (just under the dash), but you never know.

WOW - That makes me wish I was a "PILOT"!   ;<)   Or, "Are they making fun of my pattern flying and attempted landings?"  Great Show - Wish I had known about it in time to go.   That idiot on the motorbike is going to get killed - He should get a Pilot's License instead!
Thanks Leni - really woke me up with that one!

I thought about putting smoke on mine.  The only time I would use it is when your buddy is looking for ya and cant find you very easy cause your lil plane is blending in.  turn smoke on and they find you really fast.  I have a smoker setup that my brother had in his kitfox.  Basically a windshield washer bottle and pump with a bayonet to hook into the pipe.  Stupid simple and reported to have worked well.

Decided to consolidate my videos into one place. This is what happens when you get sat down on a Middle East flying deployment because you have flown too many hours in the past 2 months. Hard to sit idle after enough flying to have to rebuild my 582 in the last 60 days.

I tried to pick up the plane yesterday, but by the time I was ready to fly home winds were prevailing out of the E 15k gusting to 20k and my home field only has rwy 19/35  Grrr.
Fortunately my flight instructor was there with another student.  I waited around as the wind picked up, inspecting my plane.  Then spent 2 hours with him after lunch doing crosswind take offs and landings in the (to me) stiff breeze in a small Tecnam.  We made sure to use the runways most perpendicular to the sock and I was able to practice side-on and quartering gusty crosswinds.  2 hours and ~24 t/o&landings later I was mentally bushed, yet satisfied that the 90 min drive to Sebring was worthwhile, even if I did return home in a car.
