It's been a real cold winter up here in Mn, and I've been spending way to much time on youtube.  I got a kick out of this one.  Maybe some of you will as well.   Russian soldiers in a spoon fight....   Some guys don't know when to quit.  LOL   Jim Chuk

There are a whole lot of planes using side mounts and 3:1.  The only thing I have heard about 3:1 was IVO said don't use 3 blade ultralight prop with the 3:1.  I did it for a whole lot of hours with no issues, but I like the way mine fly's using 2.62:1

Leni where did you find your springs, Are they primary clutch springs or something.

It the 320# spring off a skidoo rear skid center shock.  Part number is 503190854.

The bushings I made were from poly bushings body mounts for a 68 dodge dart.

Wallys are good eating. We got some Jack Salmon at Shnucks (the anti-gun folks) Friday and they smelled bad - had to take them back and eat tuna patties.

I notice that you forgot to include a tape measure with those bait fish!

I think we are only allowed one walleye here, for safety reasons - Two if you have a huge boat!

I've got a photo of a 33 pound striped baby bass.

    Good Fishing,

Alaska ruined my fishing - gave away my good dipnet - didn't use a pole except for halibut, and nothing that big down here!

    Bill,

I don't think it matters much - My Kitfox ones were 1/4 or 3/8 - Guess thicker might be better if it works, but don't see why the thinner wouldn't work, except it wears faster.

My book says to finish the fit with a file, as the tube goes thru at an angle - not too loose, or too tight - just a light pressure on tube.

I bought the brackets from Kitfox, and they are very nice. Top notch manufacturing, and plated (zinc or cad it looks like). The only thing I don't like is they are steel, and seem kind of heavy. I should weight them though. I could just about guarantee they won't be a point of failure though.

My Bandit with the 503 is a great single place airplane just like a heavier higher horsepower airplane is also a good single place airplane. No wind and taking off of a hard surface runnway I can be airborne in 170 ft. Cruise at 6000 rpm is 69 mph. Check out my video "takeoff circle and land in 50 seconds"

i would just do what was mentioned Mr.  Add some plywood under that rib and rivet and glue on aluminum pieces to bring them down a bit like the kitfox rib stiffeners. just make them a bit taller like was mentioned before in this post. here is mine, yours could be the same just a little bigger. what ever you do don't give up on her, it is a really nice looking plane.

    TJay,

I am sure that I have the Kitfox 4 drawings of the drag tube brackets, and the price a while back, although they could be made at home with a welder - you just have to figure out the correct angles.

The later models also have steel drag tubes.

I will try to post you something tonight.
