Ultralight has to weigh 254 lbs or less.  Also only 5 gallons of fuel capacity allowed.  Jim Chuk

Maybe it was the tie-down rings that looked like lights or something.

I guess I haven't kept up with the new rules.   No gas stations between Florida and the Bahamas?

ultralight gas capacity depends on the weight of the plane to begin with.. it has to less than XXX pounds, but not a fuel restriction.  You can fly an ultralight cross country if you can hit the fuel stops.  No restrictions on miles away from an airport.  There are several guys that routinely fly ultralights coast to coast.

The only round things I see at the top of the struts are the tie down rings and the bolts

Just wait for the 27" to come out... that way you don't have to double damn me!

Truth be known, I will probly end up with a set one of these days soon as the 30" are just a little overkill for me right now with the 582.

    LED Mini-spotlights
Saw a lot of LED mini spotlights for motorcycles on ebay for sale - no size listed - anyone know how big and how much light they produce?   Thinking about recognition lights using them.

Here ya go! You can buy cigarette lighter plugs at walmart or any auto parts store. I have 2 in mine under my panel. One is for my radio and the other I use to charge my cell phone when I'm away from home on trips.

From the reports that I have seen, many U.S. cities have doubled their normal snowfall, and the temps have mostly been a lot colder, for a lot longer than normal - While Alaska got less snow and was warmer than our upper 24 states.  Election time is in November here, and I will be voting to give it back to Alaska next winter.

I have heard that the 5-foot-long Swiss mufflers are so quiet that you need a horn to warn people at the airport - only hear the prop - This is because they have the most restrictive noise regulations - you are quiet, or you are grounded!
A friend of mine put a 2.5 Soob in his RV and added a muffler sold in the U.S that almost made his that quiet - it had some changeable baffles in it - cant remember the name of it right now.

Weather on the prairies north of the 49th has been so crappy these last 2 springs.More often than not I've managed to have my plane up and flying in mid to late march and now...May 4 and I haven't spun the prop yet?If it isn't cold and wet its cold and windy and that pattern is interrupted by typical bouts of cold and dry! cold cold cold !

If you have a radiator, it's not a 503, if it has one spark plug per cylinder, it's a 532, dual plugs, most likely a 582.  Also, most 532s had an A style gear box.  Jim Chuk

Thats not a GeeBee! That's a super duper ultra fast XLi GLX Super Bee with some Gee! ™ in it!
The thing stalls at 189 Miles per hour and flying it is like taming a angry bush animal.

I would know because I flew single engine fighter planes in the war. This thing, gents, is a completely different kind of flying, altogether!!!
Just ask the pilot, he's holding on to that cowling getting ready for a turn, and that Schnulli (mouthpiece oxygen enhancer) is going on high gear!

The engine will have a placard on the crankcase "mag" side, side opposite the prop.  The placard will say "type 582, type 503....etc.  About 1.5x2.5 inches in size, black.

Thanks a lot for the pictures! It's interesting seeing how it compares to the original. If you have a chance to measure the tube diameters, that would be great too.

    Thanks again,

I used the concentrated heat of a plastic welder to soften the glue. Works not bad. Very much like a small concentrated heat gun.

Here are some pics of my muffler. It's only about 2 feet long. Didn't have a tape. I guess it's a mini swiss muffler. Not real quiet but it does sound good!

Early Avid Flyer rotax 532 or 582
    All,
Trying to figure out the engine on a Avid Flyer. The plane has a radiator on the belly. The Intake is on the right side of the engine (if your sitting in the cockpit). I am a newbie on the rotax engines.

    Thanks in Advance.
