Randy, you can not plug them into a cigaret lighter. The plugin for the inserts are in the heal, so you have to remove them from your boots.

I hope you don't place your order on my guess - about 12 or 13 running yards x 70" wide? 15 yards to be safe....
Jim Chuk or someone else will probably give you a better guestimate. I didn't keep track when I covered the last one. I had scraps from wing coverings to use too.

Tow Bar

I'll never use this genuine factory Avid towbar. Does anyone have use for it?
I never used it but the PO said he pulled the C model 75 miles once with it and it worked great. Breaks down into 2 pieces and is for 2" ball.

How about for what the material would likely cost to fab one up -- $100.

How much fabric Fuselage and Tail Feathers?

Getting ready to cover the main fuselage and tail feathers on a Mod III and could use an estimate on ho wmuch fabric to order. Anyone have a good feel for this? Wings are already covered. Many thanks, Larry S.

Better hope it don't turn bitter cold - Without the snow, underground pipes can freeze a long ways down - We had that in Anchorage one year.

I know that there are a lot of cable control systems that have been flying for years - but after breaking a flap cable on final over the threshold, I don't want any more to do with them. Guess you have to inspect them closer.
The cables in the photos look heavier than the Cessna cables - or maybe I am just seeing them that way.

Moved the plane today

Do to the lack of snow at the local airport, I moved the bird to a buddy's house. The ice is over 24" thick but still no snow cover, just frost on the lake.

I'm sure that there are waiting lists for the $1000/month (or is it now $2000?) hangers at Merrill Field in Anchorage, since there are Jillions of planes parked out in the snow. We have a problem here in Missouri with small airports being closed to make shopping malls, and the list for $75 hangers extends from 3 years to eternity! They act like the small plane is going the way of the DoDo Bird....One guy I know just received his eviction notice from a closing airport, where I used to hanger my Ercoupe, and is considering bulldozing his own runway because the nearest hanger for his Taylorcraft is just too many miles away. This is the 3rd airport in my area to close recently.

We'll assume the Kitfox kit includes the full Model IV mixer assembly, control arms and some weld-in plates. In any case, in my opinion, it's not a worthy investment on a Model III.

Sounds nice Mark. Can you plug them into the cigaret lighter and run them on the airplane power?

My poor man solution for the time being to to use the little toe warmer packs that heat for about 5 hours when you open the package up and they are exposed to air

I would pay years in advance for that price.. daily rent for maintenance will run 100-150 a day. The real estate pirates here need to walk the plank!

Ahhhhh, I see now grass hopper. Thank you sir! The brackets look easy enough to make. Hmmm... mod IV kf wing with separate flaps n ailerons stretched to about 34'... bet that would make a nice float plane!
