  1. I did one kind of like this Joey,My Skyraider is a tandem so its not very wide but it is right behind the back seat.I made it out of upholstery material and it is held in by Velcro and snaps.I put a piece of cardboard in the bottom to kind of form it square.I put a first aid kit and a little tool pouch back there.Randy

  2. I just replaced the the OEM 55 idle jet with a 45 idle jet.  My idle EGT's went from 800ish to 950-1000.  I don't think I am running too rich at idle.  With the throttle pulled all the way to idle the RPM's will only drop to 2,600 or so.  The idle stop screw doesn't seemt to make a difference anymore

I'm still playing with it though.  I'll do some more tweaking in the next few days

You probably need to adjust your cable to let the slide drop deeper into your jet.I adjusted my cable to idle at 1800 and then turned up the idle screws to get my 2000 idle rpm so slide is not hanging off of cables at an idle.Make sure and sync them the same.Randy

  3. My Battery is mounted on the firewall on my Skyraider so I ran a ground directly to the starter and from there directly to the solonoid base and another one to one of the housing bolts.Im a firm believer in plenty of grounds,a bad ground can cause other problems.Randy

  4. I think with all the crap that's on the daily news we're much better off watching some of the old comedies and action shows.Kit the car was pretty bad ass.Ive been watching " I love Lucy" before I head to work in the morning. Alf was actually a funny show, wish it was still on.Randy

  5. Nice going Joey,What kind of cruise speed do you have now and what are your climbout RPMs.Im assuming you didn't pickup 15 MPH over your old prop but is it going to make your Idaho trip a little more forgiving?Randy

  6. I didn't think there was such a thing as AD's that applied to experimentals, or at least to E-AB's. They are only advisory and not directives.

I think the kit planes have AD,s they made me write down the most current bi-weekly when I had mine inspected.I think they want to see if there is any new issues of your model of plane before they give it a airworthiness certificate.Randy

  7. On Form 8130-6 Section B the question is "check if all applicable ADs are complied with and give the number of the last AD SUPPLEMENT available in the biweekly series as of the date of application"

    What do I put here?

    Thanks

The most current AD # is 2013-03 but next week it would change again. The last AD was from 1/28/2013 - 2/10/2013.On your form I would just write down 2013-03 and you should be good.Randy

  8. When I got my Skyraider inspected the DAR told me that I needed a material list of everything that went into the build, unless the kit manufacturer had been assigned as a qualified kit builder. This went into effect in 2009.Luckly I had already purchased my kit prior to 2009.Skyraider says they are on the FAA list now.It has something to do with the 51 percent rule so if your kit is not on the list then you have to prove that you built more than half of the airplane.Bunch of more crap we have to deal with.Good Luck Randy

  9. I saw a news reporter yesterday on Fox news trying to interview Bloomburg on why he has so many bodyguards with weapons and why no one else in the city are allowed to have a handgun for their personal protection.Bloomburg said he would get back with him later on this subject. What a dick.........

  10. Your buddies right about the Zinc not being in our oils anymore.Thats what keeps camshafts from going flat when breaking in a new automobile engine.Shell Rotella supposedly still has zinc but dont know for how long.Marvel mystery oil is good stuff. We mix one gallon of mineral spirits to 1/4 cup of Marvel, paint it on our drag tires and it softens them up and makes for better traction. It also can be used on old car tires that have dried out.We use Valvoline race oil for our drag motors, lots of zinc in it.I friend told me if a can of oil doesnt have the energy conserving logo on it then it probably still has zinc........Randy

  11. Obama was looking for a Call Girl

He found 3 such girls in a local Pub,a blonde, a brunette and a redhead.

To the blonde he said,I am the President of the United States, now how much would it cost to spend some time with you?

She replied $200.00,to the brunette he ask the same question. Her reply was $100.00

He then ask the redhead... Her reply was,

Mr. President,if you can get my skirt up as high as my taxes,my panties as low as my wages,Get that thing of yours as hard as the times we are living in,And keep it rising like the

price of gas,Keep me warmer than it is in my Apartment and screw me the way you have retirees,

Then you can have it for free, like the immigrants.

  12. If your plane has not been inspected yet for a air worthiness then you have to have the new style with the remote control,it can still be 121.5.If it already has a airworthiness from a few years back then you can use the older style without the remote control. There is no rules as where you mount it but most mount behind seat.If you have a single place a elt is not required.I guess if you go down by yourself nobody cares.Randy

  13. And create a whole new class of criminals. Damn it, I've been so good for for so long...

As American citizens we are supposed to obey the laws that are set in place under our constitution, not by a bunch of pick and chose liberals that has forgot how we have retained our freedoms.Doesnt surprise me from a State that is banning oversized soft drinks.New York is the lawbreaker so hang tough with your rights. They will walk all over us and it will spread like wild fire..........

  14. This is for those that remember the Clinton era.........

  15. Good video, your right you'll never see that in main stream media. They fabricate their own statistics thinking that we are a bunch of idiots. All I have to say is my small town has a almost non existant violent crime rate because just about everyone has a .45 or hunting rifle ready to go at all times.2nd amendement works well here.Randy

  16. I bought my engine used and when I primed it up for the first time both carbs leaked out the vents.Pulled carbs apart and both looked spotless.Put them back together and same thing both leaked.I ordered two carb kits and it solved problem on both carbs. The old needles were hard so probably dried out from sitting.I set my carbs with a straight edge same angle as cylinder head.Randypost-104-13566658496924_thumb.jpg

  17. My rotax 582 grey head has about 4 hours of total run time on it. I am not familiar with this engine at all as this is the first one I have had. I am curious if a clicking noise when rotating the engine by hand is normal. When I take the spark plugs out the sound goes away. When it is under compression with the plugs in it comes back. Sounds like it is coming from the cylinder area. Makes me worry that something may be wrong. However, all of the engine temps are running normal and never had evidence of a seizure. Hopefully it is just something inherent to all rotax 582 grey heads.

    Thanks

Hope its normal cause mine does the same thing, its got 150 hrs since rebuild and no issues.Randy

  18. Joey,

When are you going to tell us about the return trip story or did I miss it?

I enjoyed looking at these pics again. We drove through a lot of that area; OR, WA, ID, MT, UT and back through ID to OR (3000 miles); on our deer hunt and elk hunt earlier in November. It is beautiful country. I sure would like to fly it some day but hunting it's not too bad either.

Those are some nice Mulies and the Elk isn't too shabby either.Nice hunt.Randy

  19. A man was sitting on a blanket at the beach. He had no arms and no legs.

Three women, one from England, one from Scotland and one from Ireland, were walking past and felt sorry for the poor man.

The English woman said 'Have you ever had a hug?' The man said 'No' so she gave him a hug and walked on.

The Scottish woman said, 'Have you ever had a kiss?' The man

said, 'No,' so she gave him a kiss and walked on.

The Irish woman came to him and said, 'ave ya ever been fooked lad?'

The man broke into a big smile and said, 'no.'

She said, 'Aye - Ya will be when the tide comes in.'

I bout spit coffee out my nose on this one,Larrys joke also, gonna send these to my mother in law. She'll be laughing for a week! Randy

  20. I've tried a lot of different things on my racecar to stop the cracking around the screw holes on my side windows. The thing that has worked best was oversize the hole in the lexan and the tabs that they attach to. Use a screw with lock nuts and just barely snug them down.Polycarbonate has to be able to move with expansion. Not sure if this would work for Leni at 30 below but it stopped all my cracking and crazing around the screw holes.Dont use Loctite on the screws,it will cause Lexan to craze and crack.Drill with dishsoap and drill slow, then clean the sharp edges off with a file or tapered mill.Randy

  21. To the guys that sent in checks, thanks for the help! I appreciate it. you ever get up this way, beer and flying is on me (but that goes without saying to everyone on this forum!)

    :BC:/>

Its totally worth it for me,theres a butt load of info on this site and its been helpful.Randy
