912 WARNING - WARNING - BEWARE OF RIPOFFS!
I forgot who was looking for a 912 - But this is for all........
THERE HAVE BEEN SOME 912 SCAMS GOING ON EBAY - BE VERY LEARY, EXPECIALLY OF SITES THAT TELL YOU TO "WRITE TO THEM".
A+ Doug Holly checked out a couple of these for me some time ago, because the low bid was hard to believe - Fortunately, he was able to cope with the "trap" where I would have probably been hacked.
I don't have all the info on this, but please BE AWARE that the 912 you see on EBAY may not even exist - Check it out carefully.

Yea, might want to see if anyone else carries these.  I'm sure they do.  With our new runway extension I don't think the airport will have the budget for MOGAS tanks so I'm looking for something like this also. I'm sick of carrying 5 gallons cans, I spilled premix all over myself today when I slipped a little on the ladder

    Myself 5'10" and 190lbs

    My instructor 6'3" and 235lbs

We both fit, doesn't mean we will get off the ground safely in my Kitfox IV.

I'm hangared in Mountain City, TN.  It's a bit of a drive, 4 hours or so I think but if your ever up this way feel free to hit me up and I can show you what the KF IV feels like

This is it.  Although I remember him telling me he paid around $150 for it in store.

If you look at the different pictures of the caddy you will see a white cap on top, in the center of the white cap is 1/8 NPT threads, you can screw in and seal up a regular male air-line fitting.  Make sure it is sealed good.  Hook up an airline with lower pressure 3-7 psi I think.  Works awesome.  If you have a store locally I would recommend checking on a price with them, the website price seems awfully high

Would be nice if they told you that on the website, haha

Back when 87 was gone, We started mixing 1 gal of 100LL with 4 gal of Mogas, and 2 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil per gallon of mix.
We got some Stainless "Pony" Beer barrels from Anheuser-Busch, and put wood frame under it to make it sit horizontal - We welded a fill pipe to the middle which was now the top and put an valve stem in the cap of the pipe, and a shut-off valve on the end connected to a hose.
We could put about 10 gallons of mix into the 15.5 gallon barrel, and then air pressurized it. We could haul it in our truck and use the air pressure to pump the gas up into our planes. A 12-volt compressor was used to supply additional pressure if needed. Low-tech, but worked good.

What a great little plane! Starting to get it dialed in rigging wise. Trimmed out was able to fly for several minutes without stick input and very little rudder input and could have continued for most of the flight today. The ball is still to the right of center without rudder input so there is still that to figure out.

Still having growing pains in the landing phase, I find that I need to carry some power into touchdown to make a decent landing. Haven't tried the flaps for landing yet. One thing for sure, when it is done flying, it's done.

    6.1 hours on the clock.

Sounds good, I'll do that.  I told a guy flying a KingAir 350 that my airplane had a 2-stroke 64HP engine.  His eyes got huge and he said I had a death wish.  It was kind of funny.  Here in NC 2-strokes are looked down on pretty heavy, I haven't made too many friends and no one will fly with me.

A 4 stroke would be nice

I went to Virginia Highlands airport to take a wing off an RV-6 and saw an interesting fuel caddy.  Apparently they can be purchased at Northern Tool, this one had an air line fitting so you could simply attatch an air line to pressurize it, pull the handle up to your fuel tank and pull the trigger.  It's on wheels and is a good size, 20Gallons I think.

I personally use the Nflight cam.  Plugs into the audio jacks so I can hear all the radio and cabin conversations during the flight, 180 degree wide angle lens and 1080P with adjustable frame rates up to 60fps.  Lots of options and adjustability.

Looks like Nflightcam has now switched to the GoPro, I have the Contor +.  Actually I have 2 and I usually do an outside shot and an inside shot.  Makes for some cool autorotations in helicopters

Is there any recommendation on changing the Rotary Valve oil?  If so how often.

The GoPro can work as well.  I've got the Hero2 HD model which will shoot in 720p at 60 FPS to reduce the issues of prop effect with the rolling shutter.  You can also purchase an aftermarket neutral density filter for it which also deals with the prop effects.  I like it's ability to shoot in wide angle mode.  I think it's about 100 degree field of view.

I have the WiFi back and key fob like remote to run the camera while it's on the strut.  It doesn't seem to last all day in standby though.  It's generally good for sporadic shooting over about 3 hours or so.  You can use an iPhone to see the video stream from the camera, but it's delayed several seconds.  That delay makes the iPhone option a little impractical.

I think the GoPro is a good option so you really wouldn't go wrong with it or the Drift.

You can fit two guys in a Kitfox 2. You need to be good friends and I wouldn't do it for than an hour at time though. I've flown over 6 foot guys in my plane lots of times. It's tight not gonna lie. Performance and weight wise you'll be just fine it's the space that becomes an issue.

I use a Drift HD. It'll film in 720P at three different frame per second settings and full 1080P but that's a little overkill for most people and the files get huge in a hurry. I like the Drift over the Gopro because it has a viewing window on the side so you can see what it's filming. It also has a small IR remote that's about the size of a key FOB. When it's out on my strut I leave it in standby which it'll stay in all day on a charge until I'm ready to film then just hit record and a little LED changes color on the side and away you go. The lastest go pro will do this stuff too but you need an I phone and it costs about 3 times as much as the Drift does. I try to not use my phone at all when I'm out flying because it would sure suck to be hanging upside down in a tree somewhere within cell coverage and not be able to make a call for help because you killed your phone synching it to your camera.

The biggest challenge is the editing and doing something with it. Those last two videos I made I had 3-4 hrs work into easily for a 5 minute video with music. If you start filming in High Def you need some computing power to mess with it.

    Video camera
I am thinking about buying a small video camera that I can use in the plane.  Seems like some (most) turn the prop into hockey sticks gone wild but others do better.  Joey, seems like you posted some vids that looked good in this respect (and in general also).  Any suggestions?

Correct, not limited to sport pilot.  Wanting something fun, economical, easly stored so I can build some time in.  Was hoping to hear Avid and Kitfoxes II or larger would work due to budget.  Hard being "broke" with big dreams.

    Thanks for the input.

    MY FIRST HOMEBUILT PLANE
When I was about 15 years old, about 1956. living in Flint, Michigan, I helped a neighbor build a "SNOW-PLANE". My photos burned up years ago, so you have to make a mental picture of the machine.
Imagine the tandem cockpit of a J3 Cub, with a nose ski and two main skis - no wings, and a rear-engine Harley Davidson 45 hp engine turning a prop.
We covered it with fabric just like a regular plane, and it had a rudder, and nose steering.
It wouldn't fly, but went like hell across the snow. No speed meter either.
The only brakes were spikes that were attached to a lever on each side of the cockpit, and could be lowered to stop or slow down the plane.
Biggest drawback was no heater, and the windshield would frost over from your breath. We rigged up breathing tubes to take your exhale out the side.
I think the Big-Pilot was watching out for me, or I might have died in it!
It got totaled after I left there.

I don't think anyone on here will bitch about hearing of your Z-bird, and the V-twin. This is the first I have heard of that engine, but I am not a 2-cycle flyer.I have often wondered about the Harley or other V-twins. They can produce 100 to 150 hp.
I bought the manual for the Z-701 or 801 - cant remember which - it is packed away in my Alaska boxes - Unfortunately, I fell into the K-fox trap before getting started on the Z.
I have a poor opinion of Heinz's designs, but it will still fly. My Ercoupe flew, but I was happy to get rid of it.
I put 4 tanks in my K-fox wings, about 8 inches space between them, and piped up a check-valve to prevent the fuel from the inside tank from flowing to the empty outside tank thru the vent line that connects them.
Also, from the finger-strainer in the outside tank I ran a line to a shut-off ball-valve and plumbed it to the inner-tank. I can reach up to the valve while on the ground and open or close this valve depending on whether I want to fill both tanks and run off of both, or just use the inner tank.
Hope this makes sense. Your 4-way should work too.

While you are on the float subject - I have an unknown piece from under a Kitfox 1, and I THINK it might possibly BE a bracket for floats. The plane also had that extension under the tail for float use. If anyone needs either one, I just want shipping costs. Let me know - guess I could post a photo of the bracket.

Yes, it all looked OK to me. I replaced my wood stringers completely because I had to take it off for welding. Blending the new back to the old should work just fine.

Rotax (LEAF) actually recommends Amsoil two stroke oil at 100:1 as a preferred oil if you put on a lot of hours ( like Joey does!).
