Do I have an Avid Flyer C, HH, or Stol?
I bought an Avid Flyer and am pretty stoked about getting her in the air. I am currently working on getting the Registration and Airworthiness.
Looking through paperwork, there are many different claims of what model it is exactly and what the Gross weight is. The data placard on the side of airplane says, Avid Stol, serial 700, 1993, GW 911. The previous owner claims it is the Heavy Hauler. I measured the wing ribs and they are spaced 18". I thought the HH were spaced 12". It has the square rudder on the top. Has the "bat wings" where there is no straight leading edge. I thought that was part of the HH wing as well. Tube dimension is close to 2 1/2". It came with a Mark IV builders manual, but I'm pretty sure its a model C. On some of the forms I find GW to be 1150. It has 14 gallon tanks.
The wing has no inspection holes and no grommets for releasing moisture. That makes me worried about the wood ribs that attach to the flaperons.
Based on what I have written, do you believe I have the HH wings? Thanks

Wouldn't the dollar be BETTER off against other currencies if it were sound currency as opposed to fiat?

When an aircraft is not registered for a certain amount of time, the N number will eventually be deregistered and be up for grabs for someone else. The N number would have to be reserved and then reassigned to that specific aircraft. Once that is complete, a copy of the airworthiness should be available from the FAA. For $10 you can receive a CD for all records of the aircraft. I would imagine it having a copy of the airworthiness, but I'm not sure on that.
Worse case scenario would be having a DAR-T inspect the airplane and reissuing an airworthiness.

So you're saying the one world order/government types are colluding with each other to control the economies of all of the "western world" in order to maintain their tyrannical authoritarianism?  I whole heartedly agree.

The dollar has been steady against other first world currencies for decades.

It might also have something to do with US GovCorp printing billions in the last few years diluting the value of the dollar. I don't know.

Price must have shot up a bit over the next few yrs.  I have all the receipts and such from the Kitfox 4 I'm building now.  It's a 94 model.  Shipping and packing to Duluth Mn was $500.  Total price was $14578.75.  That was firewall back.  No cowl or motor mount, ect.  Dual brakes, preformed windshield and a few other options included in the total price.

Jim, the model 4 kit you have that I'd built was 9850 back in the day. With cowling and everything minus engine and prop. I think '91.

    Spot on, Jim.
At $50k, they're selling as many as they can make.  They know they have a hot commodity.  To increase production is almost impossible while maintaining the same level of quality that they put into their kits.
Doug's just a little salty because he remembers going to the movies for a nickel...

I think there is a two year wait on the kits as well.  I suppose if you can sell more kits than you can produce, prices will go up.  I think my Kitfox 4 firewall back kit was something like $14000.  That was in 1993.  Adjusted for inflation is there much difference in price?  JImChuk

    Whoa... $50k for a FWB KF7 STi ?!!
Ok, just poking around looking at new/used prices and was floored to find the KF7 STi FWB kit a hair under $50,000.
$45,000 for the 7 Speedster and $42,000 for the 7 SS FWB kits.
Granted, I've not been looking for any build/rebuild projects these past 5 years but that represents quite a jump from pre-C19 prices, IIRC.
More $$$ chasing fewer goods? Has the price of complete, un-started kits KF and Avid kits taken off too?

About 12" C to C, front to back.  About 8' wide overall.   Would have to measure to be exact.  You are referring to the trailer I take it.  JImChuk

Thank you everyone! I've already learned a ton just by reading all of the threads on here, so many cool projects!
Yeah I signed up there too, glad to see that Facebook hasn't totally consumed either forum!

Welcome to the flock. Farcebook has killed a LOT of forums. I once belonged to a very good local horse riding forum. It faded into oblivion.....

There's enough reading material and good educational information to keep your brain fed for a while.
I'll say that www.teamkitfox.com also is a good resource for the general type of aircraft too.

Welcome to the group.  Sadly, most of the members seem to have migrated to places like facebook, but this forum is far, far better for leaning about Avids and early Kitfoxes than anywhere else.  The search box will yield a treasure trove of information.  Congratulations on passing the check ride at such an early age.  Feel free to ask questions, a few of us old diehards are still around and will try to help.  JImChuk

New member - looking to learn!
    Hey everyone!
I just joined the forum after browsing as guest for a little while. I'm currently only 17, having passed my PPL checkride a few months ago. I did all of my training on a 160hp Citabria, and have fallen in love with tailwheel flying and off-airport operations (to that end I'm a bit restricted while renting though!).
As one might imagine, I don't own an Avid or Kitfox yet, but I'm looking to learn as much as I can about building, maintaining and flying them. Depending on university acceptance and my own decisions on that front, purchasing an Avid or earlier Kitfox may even be on the cards in the near future!
This forum has such a wealth of knowledge just from what I've seen already, and I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone here!
