Nope, its still sitting in his hangar out in N. Kenai.  I don't think it ever flew.  Beautiful plane though.. I talked to his son a couple weeks ago and he said Dave was down south now.  Last I saw he wanted 35k for it.

how about I just put a circuit interrupter in the ignition so it will only fire every other stroke.. Not sure what that will do for the take off HP though...

Great news Leni - Now, if you can figure out how to make a 4-stroke out of it, I will put my name on the list.

well I got one step closer to getting this dream a reality!  I have the adapter plate in hand and it came out NICE!  thanks Dave!!

hopefully in the next few months I can get some good forward progress on this one and be able to have it ready for flying come float season!  Once I get the engine mounted I will drill and tap the plate for the gear box.  It is a perfect fit to the engine and the gear box and the flywheel is machined to the perfect taper length to bolt it up to the gear box as well.

I think they were 31" bush wheels... I have 31" airstreaks for mine but I have not gotten them on the plane yet.  Hopefully this time home I will get the floats off and get the gear on.

Glad you chimed in Paul, I better rethink this if it wasn't working well for you.

Ed this takes preheated air from the radiator, sends it around the exhaust and is used for carb and cabin heat.

Just curious, but what kind of tires were these? Since the ad expired and there isn't any mention of them in this thread I'm left clueless (nothing new, but I still don't like it  )

Knowing nothing about this setup - I don't see where it would be effective.
I think there are better ways to get the air thru the rad.

I have mine off and can take a picture when I get out to the hangar.  It really did not work that good (low airflow) with the 912 radiator because the air wants to take the path of least resistance thru the rest of the radiator.  I am planning a separate dedicated opening below the radiator.

If this is the one for the flat-mounted rad, Kitfox sells one for $168 that fits the 582 and 912 rads.
    part # 69137.
prices may have gone up - my book is 2 years old.

Whoops - had not looked at your photos - was talking about the flat mount under belly - nothing like photos -

That looks like the same one used on the back of a 582 radiator.. if it is, I contacted Ron a few days ago and he said he didn't have the mold.  Maybe he just did not know what to look for

    A cool new forum
Great!  I'll be starting my thread in here soon.  It's complicated but I'm still recovering from a series of 5 moves since I left Fairbanks in aut five.  We've been living in and out of boxes for years now and it's tough getting all that junk sorted then thrown away.

Anyway,  I can see the garage floor now and I've got my indoor electronics/music studio to do yet before I can get the Zenith CH701 out of the trailer and into a recognizable airplane form.  Not long now.

Birddog,  Sorry about knocking you off of the top of the posts - but I had to put in the 2nd page of Pazmany gear book.
Now you will be back on top.

Here is 2nd Pazmany page of gear.  This book is $80, but worth it if you need engineering info on landing gears.
I still wish I could figure out what he put on turnover angles of main and nose gear.

Anyone have one of these laying around for sale or have the dimensions so one can be made? I've contacted Ron Smith and he may have the mold to make one but a couple close up pics. would really help so he's not making the wrong part.

Thanks to Paul for one of the pics.

  22. EDMO added a post in a topic Looking to purchase this and have questions.

I have a old Kitfox catalog, and they wanted about $1500 just for the nose gear - no mains with it.
Mine is made from a scrapped $100 mountain bike frame from Walmart.   Inovate - design - or spend $$$.

    Hi Kenneth,

It is spendy stuff.  I think I got $800 or $900 for the complete gear; don't remember exactly what we settled on now.  The original builder said he paid $1500 for just the nose gear from Vans.
