Didn't say I was active on all of them. I jump around between hobbies. Lately I've been on vintage mustangs.com a lot getting info for my 64.5 Mustang build. Each one has it's own personality.

The dummies here voted for his "free Obummer phones - free ObummerCare - Green ObummerEnergy - and Obummer Immigration", and didn't care how much it would cost the country and the working class.
They couldn't see how much this TV Preacher-Salesman LIED!

I thought who he is was pretty obvious his first campaign .... But the blind masses took this country down. It's tough to blame him when "the people" voted his ass in... Twice... But his actions never cease to amaze me.

If you learn to fly the airplane the Airdale Spring gear works great. Much better handling on the ground. Fly it on to the runway! The hell with the full stall 3 point landing! If I hit hard I would rather replace the gear rather than rebuild the whole fuselage.

I'm thinking the same thing about a handheld 12V light for a landing light. I've read for hours on the subject of lumens vs. candlepower. It seems that you really can't compare the two very well since they measure light differently.

My mom has one of the brightest handheld spotlights I've ever seen and it's LED. It's the Waypoint made by Streamlight, they aren't terribly cheap but not really expensive either. I just hate to buy one only to cut into it and use it for a landing light. I'm kind of like that sometimes.

I got a text from my buddy saying they were going flying so I had to play hookie from work and catch up to them, I didn't have a chance to mess around with some weight on the tail but got a good two hours of lake hoping in. What I seem to notice is that it seems to fly tail low and still heavy on the nose, alls I can put in for flaps is two notches other wise im running out of elevator when I land. I'm kinda thinking it still may have something to do with the angle of my cowl along with more weight in the back, anyways got a few pics. We had 5 planes on skis on the one lake ,pretty cool

From what I have read in conversion books, the heater cores just don't cool the water as well as radiators - the GM/Chevy AC (evaporators?)(condensers?) not the one in front of the radiator, will make good cheek rads, but not the Ford ones.

    LUMENS AND CANDLEPOWER
After reading some factors about converting Lumens to Candlepower, and not really getting any good info, I found this in the Spruce catalog, my old book has it on page 509.
    XEVISION LANDING AND TAXI LIGHTS
"500,OOO Candlepower (3200 Lumens) for our 35 watt,
and 750,000 Candlepower (5400 Lumens) for our 50 watt systems -
up to more than 8 times brighter than a standard 100 watt incandescent beam."
Note:  They are proud of these $500 lights.
I hope the above tells us something.
The 12.5 : 1 conversion factors dont really compute - one is talking about light power at the source and the other is at the point of aim, and they don't say how far away that is.
If you can find a way to put this ratio into words that I can understand, then jump right in - this is the best I have found.
Sounds like my 2 million Candlepower cheap handheld spotlight may find a new home in my cowl.

I saw an aluminum heater core out of a 2002-ish Grand Cherokee the other day.  It looked like it had four rows and was decent size for a cheek style mount.  It would need the inlet and outlet pipes reworked, though...

I would like to see Griffin's price - they do all aluminum.  I believe 12 fins per inch is what you want, and I can check the size for the Soob if someone wants it -  about 9 x 16 x 2.25 inches thick should do the job, or a little wider and only 1 1/2 inches thick.

I looked up mine.  The builders registered it as model 'AVID FLYER STOL', and serial number of '1', not the kit serial number.   One of the builders of mine was Charles Lindberg ).  So guess who's name was listed first..  He liked to say, 'yes I am that Charles Lindberg, but no, I didn't fly solo across the Atlantic'.

I carry full insurance on it, and was a relatively low time (250 hours), 0 tailwheel time pilot when I bought it.  I didn't have any real trouble, the insurance company just put a clause that I had to log 10 hours with a qualified instructor before I was covered for solo flight.  Try the EAA (Falcon), that's where I get my insurance.

When you do a search on the FAA website under make and model, there is an upper box that lists manufacturer, and lower box that list model.  If you type in Avid Flyer in the model box, it will pull up 517 matches for the model.  By going through each of the planes listed, you can look for serial # that are likely to be a model C.  Ed, I believe you are correct in your last post, the builder is the manufacturer.  Some guys make up their own serial #, I think they may have made up their plane from parts, maybe even a reconstructed aircraft and then with a different serial # there wouldn't be 2 airplanes with the same # in the FAA data base.  Don't know why, but I just now typed in Avid Flyer model C and came up with 7 listed aircraft.  This morning I'm sure there was only one.  One of them has a serial # of 351, so that might be close to the break point between the B and C models.  Just typed in Avid in the model box and that brought up 823 listings.  Search the serial # from 350 to 1000 and you should find all kinds of C models.  Jim Chuk
