Yes, but the engineering is far beyond my feeble mind - I have an engineering design book that shows them, but they also had a wind tunnel to test them in.  Some of them are wild and complicated.
If anyone wants an engineering book that most people can understand - It is called "Design of the Aeroplane" by Darrol Stinton, a test pilot and engineer in England.  (May be out of print now?)  Lots of good design info.
His other book, "Anatomy of the Aeroplane" is practically useless for us, and I have it too.

Ed was the bird type wing tip actually several extensions going out span wise? That's an interesting concept I hadn't considered.

Small claims court here in Missouri is a bad joke - either $500 or $1000 limit, and you have no power to collect!

I wasn't aware that the map way to do it would be that difficult but I would like to see something more than a thread where it's easier to search for others. Since I know most pilots are visual thinkers I just figured being able to see it in a general local would be the best. If Google maps are so hard to use, is there another way for us to put up a map and have people pin their location on it with information?

In my case there are many times when I might be in a state I'm not familiar with and wouldn't know the names of any of the towns to even search for member. Maybe a map isn't the best way to do it but I'm open to helping set something up if people are willing to use it, at least with what limited knowledge I have. I do have time if someone wants me to just help out. Again, I'm open to ideas and suggestions. I have a brother that is an I.T. guy and might be able to beg him for help too is there is a good idea for this.

Just a thought that might be able to help anyone that might need a place to crash (not literally), just want someone with the same ideas to hang out with etc.

WingX is a beautiful program. It's very fast and user friendly and I think it blows foreflight out of the water overall. I fly with another pilot that has foreflight and hes amazed at the speed and simplicity as well as the functions wingX has. I just added the Geo Reference and it opens up a whole new world of awareness.

This is a great idea. Over at advrider they have a "tent space" thread. Maybe we could set up something like that:

    http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149585

This actually came in handy for me once. A couple of years ago while on a cross-USA motorcycle trip I found myself  in a bind in Colorado Springs when all the hotels were filled one evening. I found a fellow an "inmate" on the thread who offered me space to sleep for the night in his home. I declined though and settled for my tent in the back yard.

I have ForeFlight and Garmin Pilot. Used to ForeFlight was much better, now they are pretty much equal. I don't have any experience with WingX, but I wouldn't be happy without one of them anymore.

Sorry Richard. Still haven't heard back from the administrator. If I remember right, he is active duty military, and sometimes not around.

Very good site, particularly for scratchbuilders, tons of info. I am a member there also but don't recall anything special or particularly confusing about their registration process. Perhaps someone here who is not a already member would be willing to go through the registration process and provide you some help. EDMO, would be a good forum for you to join!

Those maps are a pain in the ass and no one goes back to look at them. How about a thread that the thread title is your state and if your from the same state then just post in there?

I am a member. I don't remember it being any different than any other forum. Did you check your junk box of your email for an email to complete the registration? Sometimes they get filtered out of your main inbox as spam.

    Map of owners
I realize this isn't a new idea because I've seen it on two other flying forums. I'm wondering if we shouldn't start a Google map page for the Avid world. I know it would help me on cross country trips and such, and might be a great way to see where the forum members have aircraft and live.

I'm not tech savvy enough to get one going though but thought that it's something I'd like to see on here. In my case I'd love to see where the closest aircraft are, and I do enough long cross country trips like the Billings to Cincinnati I'll be doing next week, that I'd love to know where people live. I personally have space for anyone that might need a couch for the night too and love to hangar talk so It would be good to have a description as well as location. I'll offer anyone my couch for a night or two that needs it or just happens to be cruising through the mid-west on an adventure.

If it was a CFI, he won't have anything to get from a legal battle with him. I have over 1600 hours of dual given, there's no money in it. But he still should go after him. That's straight out theft, even a small claims court wouldn't take long to garnish his wages or at least get a judgment against him.

It's too bad that people don't think about what they do all that often anymore. Sorry for this guys wrecked plane, just a crappy situation.

I didn't see that post on teamkitfox, what was the thread name?

EDIT: I just found the post. Sounds like there isn't much he can do if the FBO denies that the instructor flew it on his own time. Still think that taking the guy to court would be fruitless as far as getting much from him, but I would do it out of principle. Too many things like this get thrown away because our system doesn't work for the little guy that is doing things the right way.

They are both solid, which is why I really want to swap out for a larger air type tire. I've come to the conclusion I can build my own fork for the Matco and buy a 4" wheel and tube/tire to make it all work. It's the lowest money outlay to get to a dual fork 8" that way. I think I even have a good solid bike that is 4130 I can cut up for the fork part. Just need to pull the tailwheel apart for a day to get it done. Oh yeah, and buy a 4" wheel and tube/tire combo. Matco wants $46 for just the wheel but I'm pretty sure an Asuzalite for half the price would work really well. I have three of them but they are in Utah and on my ultralight so they don't do me any good right now.

Anyone have an old jazzy style wheelchair? I know they have the correct 8" wheel/tire on them. My dad uses one on his ultralight and it's a really well built unit. They don't skimp on them when it's on a high dollar wheel chair from what I've seen.

    Kenneth,

Are both the Maul and Matco TW's that you have solid rubber?  The solid rubber ones are louder than the pnumatics.

BTW, I think Kitplanes mag is the best but still I get Sport Aviation and Flying as well.  Those magazines dream about flying big $$$$ though, so are mostly useless to me other than an occasional interesting article.  Flying to clueless when it comes to experimental aviation.
