How about we go back to paying commercial pilots what they deserve...that would help with the depression!
I joke, but when you look at it there might actually be some truth to it. My Father was a pilot for Delta and I watched that poor guy go from being a proud employee to a grumpy SOB as he watched everything he worked for get flushed down the toilet! I'm sure all of you have heard the stories of the luxury and glory airline pilots once had and how quickly it was taken away as they were left abandoned by their companies and government.
I never went commercial, but flew in the military and I can tell you that pilots will figure out how to pass any test, psychological or otherwise no matter what is really going on in their lives! We have been taught to compartmentalize! This is how we make sound decisions while the passengers are screaming and the plane is on fire!
So, what kind of testing is going to break through and discover a pilot with evil plans? There isn't one! Also, good luck taking on the Pilot's Union! Talk to any lawyer and they will tell you that getting rid of, suspending, or punishing airline employees is damn near impossible!
Let's face it, pilots are a strange bunch! You start cracking into those coconuts and you are going to find more than you want to.
There is always going to be a nut job trying to take a bunch of people with them. The only thing we can do is educate people on the warning signs and let's also address mental illness and it's treatment (or lack there of) in our country and others.

Let's also quit talking about these losers that do this stuff! I don't want to know why he did it...I already do...HE WAS CRAZY!!! End of story. Quit showing me his face, where he lived and what his ex-girlfriend had to say! If anything they should put his face on a sticker at the bottom of every urinal until we can't remember who we are pissing on...who is that? Some crazy SOB...

End of rant...maybe I need a psych test?

Here's a pic of the extra counterweights I have. Not sure if they were Avid or KF but I believe the flapperons were the same with regard to the flat lower surface.

[edit] Jim, I know, can you believe it? Especially for a guy they used to call El Huevo Tremendo back in the day! We better be careful, all this ball busting could leave Ed with an empty duffel bag!

Well apparently you missed the News Flash about EDMO's undecended testicle... which technically means he does NOT have a pair and might actually help explain his proclivity and fondness for nosegear.

I had a Honda Accord (total piece of junk, never again!) that regularly blew a head gasket with internal leakage only.  It was fairly obvious, the engine would run, but it suddenly turned into a steam engine with a nice cloud following me wherever I went......

The automotive channel of my brain indicates a failed head gasket would show signs of a coolant leak on the outside of the engine. If only leaking internally, I think engine performance would suffer.

A blown head gasket can inject air into the cooling system.

I think you are talking about the United DC-10 that went down in Sioux City Iowa after the tail engine blew and severed lines on all 3 hydraulic systems.  That aircraft had a flight engineer, but the person manning the throttles was a 4th crew member drafted from the passengers.  He just happened to be the chief DC-10 instructor for United.  It was amazing they got that airplane even close to the airport.  That they almost made a successful landing was a more impressive feat than the miracle on the Hudson.  Didn't get all the press and honors that the Hudson crew did because 111 people died, but 195 lived, against odds worse than the PowerBall ticket.

Thankfully they didn't have a NASCAR driver in the cockpit - the airplane could only turn RIGHT.  They'd have never made it.....

    Larry,
If you don't get an offer, I have a set of Ercoupe counterweights that you could probably use - they are more streamlined than the Kitfox weights.

If you are still looking, the Sea Doo 587 engines have the same piston as the 582. Those would have been in early 90's Sea Doo's

Maybe cavitation causing those air bubbles? I have only 2 90 degree fittings in my system other than the inlet and outlet of the Kitfox style radiator. My hangar mate has several 90's in his system and he does not seem to have the problem as far as we know, although he does not have a clear line for the steam return. I guess it could be super heated coolant when passing around the exhaust ports? Not sure what the temp of the liquid is around there. On the Avid the temp sender is all the way at the lowest point in the system since the engine is inverted. Didn't get to fly last weekend due to a leak in the coolant tank that I had to modify. Hopefully this weekend if the weather isn't too bad.

  14. dav8or added a post in a topic 532 parts?

I have a couple of 532's. I am planning to experiment with converting them to CDI ignition to eliminate the points adjustment hassle. I think the mini-airboat community uses the 532's because they are relatively cheap these days. That may be an option to sell. I may use one of mine for a mini airboat and sell the other or possibly use on a PPC.

The enrichers work good for me until it gets cold...below about 30 F, then I have to crank for about 30 seconds to get it to start.  I added a primer and it starts in about 3 seconds of cranking or less in all temperatures.

Also...about 20 years ago there was a guy on the old Kitfox email list that lived in White Horse.  The fuel pump went out on his 912 powered kitfox over the Saskatchewan Bush and he kept it running with the primer long enough to reach a clear spot to land.  Ever since I read his post about that I figured a primer was good insurance.

That's discrimination! The government won't permit that kind of behaviour.

    Speaking of the IRS...
IRS suspected a fishing boat owner wasn't paying proper wages to his deckhand and sent an agent to investigate him.

IRS  AUDITOR:  "I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them". Boat  Owner: "Well, there's Clarence, my deckhand, he's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $1,000 a week plus free room and board.  Then there's the mentally challenged guy. He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of the work around here. He makes about $10 per week, pays his own room and board, and I buy him a bottle of Bacardi rum and a dozen Budweisers every Saturday night so he can cope with life. He also gets to sleep with my wife occasionally".

IRS  AUDITOR: "That's the guy I want to talk to - the mentally challenged one".

Boat  Owner: "That would be me. What would you like to know"?

I run the enrichers on my 582. Came with the kit as well as a primer. I decided I didn't want the tygon fuel tubing in the cockpit and the enrichers seem to work fine for me.
