the 120 has the bigger thread, but you have one person selling the complete outfit with engine the site you want is http://www.rotaryforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37557&highlight=150+genesis+kit this is probably the best forum for alternative engines I have found, and the 150hp Yamaha seems to be the better or at least easier engine to convert, the Weber 750 MPE turbo would be my choice, but I don't have a mill so this would be the easiest way for me to go. Use the search function on the site it helps.

I am currently viewing the Dave Ramsey "debt free" video series and am a believer.

I wish or countries leadership was into debt free long ago so we would not be in the mess we are in.

So I also applaud selling a toy to get debt free and therefore stress free.

My Model 2, 582 powered Kitfox will be for sale when I find a Model 4 with a 912S.

    Joey,

Thanks for this great history.  Too bad Amy Laboda doesn't take time to do a little research before writing her version of it.

I have a guy up here who just rented a tiedown spot from me (for a C150 he is working on and just needed to get it tied down in a safe place for the winter) but he knows Dean Wilson pretty well and is in the process of building an Explorer.  He showed me some pictures of it and he went to Canada and flew two that are flying; one has a turbin on it.  I plan to get over to his place and get a first hand look at it and will get some pictures of it when I do.

    Hey Mark,

I am not sure what happened to my posts a couple of days ago but it was right befor the last problems with the sight and it seems to have deleted them.  Thanks for posting the pictures of your area.  It looks like one of those perfect evenings!

How many total hours do you have on your plane now?

    Mark,

I will be the frst to tell you that I love my Avid+ (fat Avid).  I would definately encourage you to build one if you can find one; but that could be a bit of a problem.  There does not appear to be too many of them floating around as projects or complete airplanes and I don't know if Brett at Airdale is building the airframes.

I flew my Avid MKIV for many years while I was building my Avid+ and it is pretty tight with two larger guys, especially in the winter with heavy clothes on.  Doable, but tight; and no way to get full side to side travel on the stick, and very little area for baggage.  I strapped all sorts of stuff to my wing struts and had to fly solo and pack gear in the passenger seat.

With the Avid+ it is truely comfortable with two people being 6 to 7 inches wider and 18" longer.  Seating is comfortable with space between the pilot and pasenger and no restriction on movement of the stick, plus more leg room and the whole area behind the seat available for baggage.  I carry a pretty complete set of survival gear including tent, sleeping bag, pad, stove, first aid kit, tool kit, etc., all the time; and then easily just throw in other packs, waders, fishing poles, tackle box, rifles, and camping gear behind the seat no problem.  The difference in cargo area is very substantial.  I have not looked at the cargo area and seating area of the KF 5-7 models to see how it compares to them but I think it has at least as much volume or more with the way I extended my baggage area.

The other advantage is it handles the heavier motors like the Subaru without adding lead to the tail of the plane.  Oh, and it still flies fun like an Avid, but flies hands off and tracks a little easier; once you trim it out, it will easily fly for miles and miles without touching the stick.

Everyone is a little prejudiced toward their own plane I know but if you can get an Avid+ to buy or build I don't think you would be disapointed.

The Yamaha snowmobile engines are actually getting more flight time, the 120hp and the 150hp, there is a guy offering a kit for the 150hp at a reasonable price. www.rotaryforum.com

Tell us more - I went to the site but didn't find the kit.

Back then the people were not informed the way they are today.  That is why the impostor in chief can't forcibly put down these people.  Everyone would see through him even faster than they are now.

I have wanted to build an Avid Amphibian since I first saw one, I never seem to be around when there is one for sale, or it happens to e as long of a trip as you made and my back doesn't take that kind of a trip any longer. From the pictures I have collected, including yours I have pretty well got the design down, its the fiberglass work I am having trouble deciphering, I have built boats and I have built tube and rag airplanes, Do you know how thick the fiberglass was on the bottom or Hull of your aircraft, the thickness on the top would help too, Being classified as disabled I have plenty of time to work out the math to design the aircraft, but there is very little information out there on designing an amphibian, any measurements that you felt like giving me would be appreciated, and a copy of manuals would be nice too, if you don't want to scan them, I would be willing to pay for copies.

Going to take a while for that - Do you know that after WW1, no jobs and depression - the WW1 Vets marched on Washington and the Pres (forget who) called out the active Army and beat and shot them?

Bad Shit for guys who risked their lives for the Country while the thieving politicians stayed home!

817 913 2427 ya I know I should change that to an Iowa number, but that is where my office was when I was in Management for the Union Pacific, now its in the middle of a football field. Glad to here that the problem isn't me, I don't have the best luck with computers, hopefully it stays up for a while I missed out on a bit while I concentrated on my Buttercup and I have a lot of Catching up to do, I went through my scrap pile and I have a bunch of 1/2 X .035, 5,8 X 049 and 3/4 X.049, I think I should be able to do something with that but I don,t want to overbuild. If my memory serves me right the original was 5/8 X.049 but I could use a double check on that.

5/8 or 3/4 - I will get to hanger tomorrow and will verify if site up - having trouble with Yahoo letting me get on too.
