if a person is going for sport pilot ,..but gets a standard private pilot student/physical card,..he can take his flight test in a 172/152/etc if he goes to the FSDO or an  IA to acquire his Sport Pilot student ticket ( Sport Student Certificates are free and good for 5 years) he can not take his flight test in a 152/172 etc it has to be a ELSA or with exception LSA,..for the flight test the instructor has the option to remain on the ground with radio contact with student ( a must for single seat LSA) or he can ride along if he chooses in a 2 seat LSA

I have one of them old fashioned circulating 200,000 BTU wood furnaces ,..it eats a cord of wood every 2 to 3 weeks,..it has 4 cold air returns connected to the circulation fan that's mounted in the plenum ,..heating a 3 floor 10,000 square foot house and we have to crack the windows  on the top floor or it will drive you out unless the temp is at zero f even with the thermostat set at 70,..summertime is nice though,..1/2 ton AC unit cools the house nicely even in 100F degree heat  I have 8" walls with R30 throughout

the only way a welded tank will work in a kitfox avid wing is to make it a full floater and have an over sized tube put thru on the right angle for a cross brace to be installed thru it,..fore and aft connect points of the tank would have to be rubber mounted in a fashion to allow .25" flex up and down so by doing this a compression tube would also be needed to replace the existing tanks function as a compression tube,..one of the possible down falls,..when the wing is in fold position..you  might get  allot more  flex ie twist which would absolutely require transport braces if trailered
the other option  if you have the tools required to do it is make a tank that has rolled seams with tank sealer in the rolls / folds,..it wouldn't be hard to do ,..using 3003 aluminum it has good working properties with enough rigidity to hold any manipulated forms.// in the attached pic is how it would look ready to fold the seams..

I agree totally superavid,..if your going to go larger diameter tubes they should also be thicker,..if someone wanted to keep the same OD tubes but go thicker,..options cut out the tube and replace with thicker same OD tube or cut the tube at either furthest point  possible on one end or the other ,..but not so far that the inner tube can not be slid back past the cut joint and slide a tube inside then drill and  fill weld ,..then re weld  joint that was cut,..I'd stagger the drill holes so there is no linear stress on the outer tube

Fox if you could have put a couple points about 3 inches long ,,1 at top of forward gear leg 90 degrees to leg and one at the bottom and then put a string between them so you could see it parallel with the forward gear leg from the front,..I wonder how much it would have slacked at impact

if a person could incorporate the shocks that are used in a soft tail Harley, they are designed for extraction loads not compression,..at the bottom of the stroke the oil works as a damper versus when you bottom out the spring it's solid,..the solid "Bang" of bottoming out is what instigates the deformation of the tubes, sending a ripple down the shock rod to the axle weldment at the wheel back up the forward gear leg,..take the "Shock or Bang" and add the fulcrum of the wheel center being close to 8 inches outward of the axle weldment junction,..which adds warpage to the forward gear leag like a bow,..bendind inward,..there is allot going on at once and the weakest link will deform and sometimes to the point of failure.

is anyone familiar with Challenger's fiber glass upgrade on the mains? if you could replace the front gear leg with a similar round fiberglass rod,..when the coil spring bottomed out,..this would transfer the "Shock" to the forward gear leg which would then dampen the forces that would be normally put on a tube,..yes it adds weight,..,..but now you have also added flex for when the spring gets compressed completely

on one of my phantoms I had a 503 free air DCDI with a tuned pipe,..can't remember the name of the pipe but man that thing would snap you back and hang on the prop if you wanted ,..if your into aerobatics without worry of your ship coming apart..the phantom is a great platform
