Bryce,
Check out local autoparts store - I saw some cheap at Autozone - The neoprene, or maybe urethane?, bushings used for trucks, 4WD vehicles - must be tough enough for them? The ones I saw were red, and came in several small sets. My Soob has some Red bushings on the engine mount - donno where Dave Johnson got them, or what they are for, except that they work.
I believe I also have some black neoprene bushings that were made for shock absorber mounts - have to be a little tough for that.

I'm changing over from Dyna smooth mount to the standard motor mount(thanks Bandit!) and need to know what kind of rubber to use for the mounting bushings. The manual says to use neoprene rubber, but I think neoprene is too spongy, like the stuff they using wetsuits. i'm thinking It's not going to be strong enough. Any thoughts? And where to get it?

First airplane camping trip of the year this weekend. This ranch has had lots of movies filmed on the property to include the Unforgiven and Back to the Future 3. Was a great day and campout with just the right amount of people.

Ah - memories of tailwheels wanting to be nose wheels!
Never saw a nosewheel that wanted to be in back tho!

Well Ed, I guess when you are thinking nose dragger its hard to think about anything else I do know that sometimes the tailwheels have nose wheel envy and try to get in front. .

Jim,
If you like visibility, hope you get to ride in Foxy Flapper some day - don't know where the tail will be, but the pilot sits about 12 or 10 inches higher than the Kitfox with fiberglass seats. I hate being old and short and laying down in a plane! Hard enough for an old pilot to get in and out without adding reclining seats to fall into and to get out of.

Paul,
You actually got another one on me - We were looking at the video of the spring-loaded Avid nosewheel - and then you posted the photo - I thought you were trying to con me into thinking that it was a nosewheel !

Well Ed, I guess you still know your airplane parts I actually got the pun this time is that a dual fork?

I had one ride in an S6 years ago. It had a 582 in it. It flew about 65 MPH, where the Avid will do about 75 at the same RPM. It was a good bit wider inside though. Visibility was better in the Avid, seemed like the nose was real high in the Rans in flight. Jim Chuk

If by custom you mean ugly old original side by side with the horribly uneven seam running down the center line then yes its custom. in all seriousness no its just the factory cowl without the side radiator cutout and the lower part cut away to make room for the exhaust and front spark plug I did about as little extra work as I could to make it look decent and just work for now. I'm planning to change it at some point to either the mk IV cowl or I found one very similar to the KF Vixon cowl that I really like. I just had this one and am to the point that I just want to be flying so these changes can wait till later. other than the cowl I've done all the MK IV changes that I know of... and then some.
