Jeez you engineers are a tough crowd, normally takes a fuel oil and fertilizer bomb to get you guys to change your ways. Maybe we are not so different after all, eh?

Oh, and yes I will confess, I did deliberately change my avatar to look like yours just to annoy you in retaliation to eating all my friggin' lobster. There must be consequences for that selfishness, perhaps that is why your tail does sit a bit lower than mine.

Diggin the new site on a mobile! Posting from the 11th floor of my hotel overlooking Waikiki Beach in Oahu. Just finished up a 12 hr day of tours. Time to kick back with a beer and get ready to do it all again tomorrow. Taking a Catamaran over to the West side to dive with Dolphins in the morning.

    Changing N-numbers
I recently went through the process on my Aerotrek A240 SLSA and I have to say, it was relatively straight forward and hassle free with minimal expense. The whole process took a bit over a month for paperwork approval from the FAA in OK and to receive the new registration from them. The revised AW certificates are provided by and must be obtained from your local FSDO. A few small hoops and hiccups there due to a lost original AW cert, but a simple statement of explanation in lieu of surrendered original AW cert sufficed. After a few day for local processing, I picked up the new AW and Operating Limitations today. Interestingly, the original OL's had to be surrendered and new OL's provided to be consistent with any changes in the code since first issued. There were nine revisions to the code since the plane was first registered in 2007, which resulted in changes to (4) of the original (16) OL's  and the insertion of (1) new OL. Most were verbage changes or clarification in response to Light Sport rules changes over the past 5-6 years, and none imposed any additional restrictions. Very helpful folks at my FSDO, sat for an hour to explain everything before handing over the new docs. If you've always wanted that special (to you) tail number, it really was a pretty painless experience with no aircraft down time.

Ok, I know I can manually click that 'Go To First New Post' icon but that's exactly what I trying to avoid (hey, I'm downright lazy about some things). I had it set in my preferences to automatically open the first new post when revisiting a thread and I would like to continue with that if possibe. Saves having to scroll all the way down the pages. It was one of the format things I really appreciated here vs. the TKF forum which did not offer an option for that preference. Looks like it might be lost here on the upgrade too.

On mine the vent hose runs to the top of the float on the inside
and is held up there with a wire loop glassed into the float.
    Mine are the Avid floats

Let us know if you figure out the crop option, I tried for a bit but can't get mine right. Thinking I may need to resize then download the new avatar and try again with that.

Also, when clicking View New Content > Topic > used to go directly to the first new post in the thread. Now it goes all the way back to the original first post in the thread. Can't seem to find a way to reset that as a preference?

Richard - I had the same 'problem' with my KF-3. I could put the plane right up on it's nose and aerate the entire length of the turf strip if I wanted. Going over was always a concern until I made the flat pedals for it. Much more comfortable undefoot and easier to slide your foot up to brake without catching a toe on the tubing. Not sure exactly why but it was a night and day difference for me and I'm hoping this new variant for the KF-4 style 'E' pedals does the same.

Looking good. Only issue I have had so far is trying to fix my avatar. Control setting options are a bit different in that you must select change my photo (which used to refer to the profile page photo should you choose to use one) to get to your avatar download. You can now 'crop' your avatar but I cant get it to display without those silly 16:9 aspect black bars  on top and bottom. Maybe y'all are looking at my new avatar, lol.

Yes. Tell us what kind it is or snap a picture. Sounds like it may need to be torn down and cleaned and lubricated.

I do that to my maul wheel every spring.

    CarbMate
Just completed carb sync on my 912 again this time with the CarbMate.  Last time I built a manometer and spent a couple of unpleasant hours getting it sync-ed .  This time spent about 15 min and it was a breeze.  If you go this route save your money and don't bother with the Rotax hose kit that they sell for about $60.  You can adapt your own with a couple pieces of hose you have at your shop.

What kind of unit is it?  I have an Aviation Products tailwheel, and my 5 year old nephew can move it by hand easily. Bryce

    Kitfox IV Questions
Just got my new airplane home and had a few questions regarding the tailwheel.  When I turn it by hand, even with the tail off the ground, it is incredibly stiff and difficult to manipulate and it really does not want to free swivel.  Is this normal?  It seems to do fine under normal flying conditions.

I understand that this is a vague description but it takes a good bit of work to the the wheel to release

i say what i say because the new matco brakes on N94JE will literally flip the plane over they are so powerful.  Locks the tires right up if you dig into them.  Ask me how I know.  I worry about catching them with my tip toes or the sides of my foot.  I'm definitely going to be making some new foot pedals

    AVID Flyer Floats
There is a drain hole and a vent hole on the bottom back of my pontoons (see attached picture).  I have the plug that screws into the drain but not sure what happens with vent hole. There is also a vent hold on the side of each pontoon.   What happens if my plane sits in the water over night?  (see attached diagram)

    Thanks

Looks like some of you are getting your wish!  looks like we have much better features when you log in to show the new topics so you can filter them out alot easier!  This will take some getting used to, but I hope everyone finds it easier to use than the last version and that the improvements are worth it!

Thanks for being patient guys, we are all going to learn the new forum software together!
