    Wanted: 3-blade Prop
I'm looking for a wider chord 3 blade prop with hub for the smaller Rotax bolt pattern.    Warp Drive or Power Fin preferred. About 70" but can be a little bit longer.   The prop I have is a longer skinny cruise prop but here in Colorado it's just not right with it getting warmer, I need a climb prop.   I'm interested if you have a used prop that even comes close.

  4. 1avidflyer added a post in a topic Ice Fishing

The topic was ice fishing, and so I'll wonder a bit from where it's at now back to the original title.  My son sent me this picture of one of the carpenter's that work for him who has been fishing a lot up on Lake of the Woods in northern Mn/ Canada.  4' of auger wasn't enough to get through the ice.  Each extention on the auger is 2' long.  I'm about 100 miles south of Lake of the Woods, and we had 6" of fresh snow yesterday and -4 F this morning.  Supposed to be about -10 F tonight.  At that rate, they will be ice fishing for a good while yet.  I'm getting out of here and heading to SC for a couple of weeks tomorrow.  Hope the furnace keeps running so the place doesn't freeze up....  Jim Chuk

    Thanks to the spammers lastnight..
Not sure how many of you folks saw it, but last night we had a couple industrious spammer hit us pretty hard.  15 page of posts of these punks worried a bout how big your pecker is and how to make it work again... at any reate, thanks to them, I will now have to manually approve new registrations.  I think I found all the post they made, but if you see one, flag it and bring it to my attention.

Also, I put a "flood control" restriction on it so all non contributing members have to wait 60 seconds between posting new topics so it will slow down the spammers and hopefuy keep them from trying to flood the forum with crap.

Contributing members avoid the flood control as one of the few perks they have

  7. lostman added a post in a topic tail wheel springs

I re-arched the tail springs on the Pursang yesterday and think I might have gone just a bit too far for the current spring. without a load on the spring (tail down), I have just a couple degrees rake with the bottom of the bolt pointing slightly forward. However I think it will be just about perfect for the Matco tailwheel. I'm still thinking I won't change it out until I test fly the plane from a few other things but I did find that Matco tells you in their technical literature that the spring will be at a 45 degree angle to make the pivot point perpendicular to the ground. At least that's a start!

    Ken,
          The 5m light was probably 8 or 10 inches - $39 - 2m light was 6 inches and $29 at O'Reillys - BUT low Lumens?
I have a 2m of a different brand - about same price and size.
I have a couple of older lights and don't know how bright - will show you sometime.  You got to get legal with pos and strobes first anyway.  I think HID is the way to go - burns brighter and cooler and less amps.
I have not located either tailwheel, but almost certain that they are both solid.

    Ed,

How big was the handheld spotlight they had and how much were they asking for it? I really don't want an 8" round spotlight yet that would be a seriously cool landing light to have when aimed correctly.

  12. EDMO added a post in a topic Possible belly radiator source

I haven't seriously looked at the MC rads - I scanned a little for 1500 to 1800 cc twin rads - I am thinking that with my nose gear, I had better keep the weight as far back as I can - I have a belly rad that has worked with this engine on another plane, and could buy an aluminum one if needed.  I'm just mostly joining in to spur on the conversations and ideas.
    Thanks,

I just faxed a template to Griffin requesting a quote for 2ea 10"x7.5" "go-kart" rads. I'll post up after they respond.

Ed, sounds to me unless you source a m/c rad to fit your application, you're looking at a custom build.  What m/c rads have you looked at? The Suzuki Vstrom and SV650 rads are in the dimenstional range you're seeking. They also have plenty of bracketry and there's 2 10mm threaded nut inserts on the sides which would make installation a cinch likely.

The Airdale spring gear looks pretty good. I think if I could choose exactly what I want, I would probably get the their WIB gear. Has anyone bought anything from Airdale in the last few months? Or, does anyone have a set of WIB gear they want to sell?

Well thanks guys, this was my plan when I started the site! Hang out, more of a family /buddy type hang out where your not afraid to speak your mind.. It still amazes me that the one forum on the web that I have left in moderated, is the only one I have seen that doesn't have guys (seriously) kicking each other in the nuts! Of course we have the good natured ribbing or shit giving, but that's what I want.

Thanks guys for making this happen and for making this the site that it is! It's all because of each and every one of you!

Mine turned into a good amount of work, and then I am modifying the ribs too - If mine had already been covered, I would have looked at aluminum extensions or slats.

Ed , I think your right , it already feels low in the tail already when flying level so adding more weight probably isn't going to help, was thinking of trying to lower the HS but that also will probably sink the tail more down. What is invovled in leading edge extensions sounds like some major work.
Ken if you ever start sky flying you'll be head north ,it opens up alot of country in the winter,
Thanks Randy, hope to get a couple more trips in before the snow dissapears, 26 planes on skis sounds cool

    Willis,
If that is your W/B, it sounds like you need some Leading Edge extensions instead of more weight.

I was picking up parts for the old truck today in the auto parts store - They had a 5 million CP handheld spotlight there, and it was marked 545 Lumens - Guess it is about time to look for a HID spotlight that should be about 10 times brighter.

Yes Willis! You can't beat a day like that can you.  Great pictures.  A couple of weeks ago I flew out to a "friend of a friends" parent's cabin (how is that for inviting yourself in).  They have a spring fly in pot luck that is becoming an anual thing now.  26 planes on skis, 21 on the lake at once when I got there.  My plane was the smallest; most were cubs, mauls, 1 aronca chief, 180's and 185's, a helio.  Yeh, I know I am the redheaded stepchild of the bunch; but they always want to know what the plane is and what engine it has, then the subject gets to fuel use.  It is funny to see their faces when I tell them what it burns per hour.

Leni, they are right across the lake from the lodge.  Probably those "crazy people across the lake" as Joey would say.

Why do you think there's 24-7 flight 370 coverage?

Russia is laughing at the eunuch. The Islamo-maggots are laughing at the eunuch. The entire world is laughing at him. But the drug addled hippies and the rest of the left wing radicals in charge of everything who voted for him are still having o-gasms every time he reads the teleprompter.
