Oh, I dunno Ed. As you noted, this would be an adviseable and easy upgrade to do during an early KF build/re-build. Something tells me Tjay is already aware of the push/pull tube end and elevator weldment differences, I'm guessing he is fitting a larger elevator which requires the Heim end. Hope the pics helped Tjay.

Doesn't have the extra ribs of a heavy hauler wing.... Wonder what the gross weight should be and useful load between the floats and Subaru engine..... Jim Chuk

Umm okay cool but what was the point? Seems like a great way to damage a perfectly good airplane.

    Doug,
If they would modify that Kitfox front pivot arm with a rod end, they could eliminate the wear on that bolt too. I think I will do that.

Well, we sure sidetracked the Belly Radiator Post - Guess we should have started a separate post for Kitfox elevator bolts.

The difference may be that the kitfox cowling is shaped differently and air may flow to it just fine tucked up tight.  I do know that most guys have ended up putting a shroud around the radiator or dropping it down a bit.  140 is minimum temp to hog the juice to it.

I'm with Jim.. All I could do in that shop is sit on a stool and drink for fear of getting things dirty in there... my garage looks like a tornado hit it when I am in the middle of a project.. but I get the work done and out of the garage then clean.. takes too long to clean every day during the project

Although.. as I get older, I do find myself picking up things in the middle of a project more because I can no longer remember what pile of crap I have a tool hidden under when I need it.

nice to see the progress on the bird Mr!  I got some all the control surfaces and cowling on the 180 stripped last time home, now to get the fuse and wings stripped next time home and start painting her.. hope to have it ready for the water when the ice goes out this spring!

I thought minimum for T/O was 150 on a 582. He must not have installed a thermostat.

Mine is currently tucked up against the belly. It gets up to 180 on a climb and usually settles to around 170.

If you want to tuck the belly radiator up tight against the fuse, then you need to make a shroud or scoop for it if you like to keep the engine below 220 in a climb.  I dropped mine down 2" and did not have anymore overheating issues without the shroud.  My brother had a scoop made for his model II that has a flap in the front controlled by a vernier cable to open and close the flap.  With that, we could dial the temp in to what ever we wanted and I never remember having his get above 150 even in a hard climb in the summer time on floats.

I dont have any pics of it on the work computer, but I can get pics of it next time I am home when I head out to work on the 180.. its in the same hangar now as the 180.

    - New style elevator push/pull tube with Heim end and two tab elevator weldment

    - Elevator push/pull idler arm bellcrank assembly showing location of bolt in KF Service Bulletin #45

You are "literate" enough to do posting. That's what counts...

Not sufficiently fluent to haggle the price for overnight? I assumed that was a requirement for all U.S. servicemen overseas...

When I had light bronze windows, sometimes the sun reflecting on them on the outside, it looked like I had gold-plated windows. Good vision from inside tho.

Last time I tried on a video, nothing helped - Just computer illiterate! My little bit of Army German is about 50 years long ago now - only spoke a little "Kinder Deutch" (Child's German) and probably understand less. Just learned enough for food, drink, and getting around Germany.
Same thing with my Spanish - I learned 50 different food names, and how to read maps!
I don't like to go without food, drink, or a place to sleep!

Did you increase the volume for your amplifier?

Ron - the baked in bronze tints I've seen seem more gray than bronze, but have much more of a reflective mirror effect. I think you'll like the one you bought better, particularly with your paint scheme. Should look great!

F/S: Complete fuselage headrack from KF3
From 1050 gross KF, should work with models 1, 2, 3 and 4-1050. Since the spar pin bushings f/r and s/s are the same, I believe this would also work with Avid C, D (Mk-IV) and Bandit models. NDH, all tubing straight and true. I know someone was quoted ~$550+ S&H from Kitfox to weld up a new headrack, I'll let this go for $350. Pickup preferred obviously, shipping would be difficult unless the front windscreen legs were cut off (left on for position reference). I can deliver to Oshkosh during Airventure if that helps. I'll get some pics next time at the hangar.

    Ron,
I think you will be happier with the dark skylight - I know the sun gets bright and hot in Pueblo -
I have both the light and dark bronze pieces somewhere - If I can find them after catching up on things I am far behind on, I will try to post some photos.

    Complete Instrument Panel
Ok, trying to decide if I should keep this, part it out or sell it complete? Was in my KF3 and working fine, but no idea really what it's worth. Have the senders etc. for Rotax 582 Blue Head with it too.

I guess I agree Ed. It seems like it was already art before they hung it from the ceiling. I guess the positive side of it is that a lot of people got to see a homebuilt plane up close (kind of close anyway). It might inspire some to get involved in aviation.
