hi all,

first i fly my new plane and still a joy, now i give my numbers:

climb at 60mph  rpm 6400/6500 +1500ft/min    low egt

cruise patern at 60 mph  rpm 4700/4800           low egt

CRUISE at 80 mph rpm 5300                              low egt

cruise 85 mph AT 5600                                       egt 1220/1230 f(max egt on rpm range)

i didn't calculate but have very low consuption at 5300

would it worth to go faster AT 5800/6000 ?

thank to give your input

For the versions of the 582, max egt is 1200, and about 1150 is a nice operating max for some margin. I think you could richen up a bit, so you get peak egt closer to peak rpm of 6500.

I got a boat fuel flow gauge in my fuel line, and it makes it easy to see what you are doing, as well. They're not cheap, maybe $500 total. Also the Hacman (or the home made versions the folks have posted) works very well to control egt and fuel flow.

thx

i forgot to talk about water temp:

at the warm up, i reach the 130f

and in flight, the temp going down to 100/110 F range , is it too low?

i got the belly radiator, may be i need to mask it a bit

Yes, the water temp is too low.  Install a thermostat.

The coolant water temperature is quite important. The internal temp of the pistons and the cylinders must be balanced, so that the growth of the piston diameter with its internal heat is matched by the growth of the cylinders so the piston does not scuff the cylinder walls. If the temp is cold, and full throttle is applied, the pistons can scuff badly (sometimes enough to weld and stop the engine).

Note on page 2-2 the minimum water temp is shown as 150 deg f, for this reason.

yes..

i wonder about the accuracy of my gauge because when i touch the outlet water tube, it seems hot enouth, will chek the outlet temp of water with an other instrument

i wonder too if the use of inox tubes doesn't refrech water more than classic tubes

Today i made a short flight with rubber on less than half radiator, and the temp was going 12O F cruizing

about egt's same question about accuracy , my plugs are brouwn like chocolate

One good way to check the accuracy of the water temp gauge, is put the sender in a can of water and bring the water to a boil.  I figured out that my 190 degree temps went down to 170 once when I did this.  JImChuk
