I would agree with that comment. I'm not sure the 503 has enough hp or moving parts to really hurt itself. Very good engines

Ouch there is only about 2000 dollars in materials to build a new set of wings.  The boys here could easily walk you thru building a set with tons of pictures.  Just a thought

Can the gear box on that engine be turned 180 degrees?

    Ha Bull shit boys.
Here is how it would really go
Broke from buying new clothes because doing laundry sucks
be weak and skinny because can't cook
Path going to the chair by the TV would be so small you have to walk sideways
Fridge would stink to bad inside to open the door then you would have warm beer
Wouldn't dare pick chicks up cause your house isn't fit for entertaining
And worst of all your right arm would get bigger than you left arm

Was looking over the plane and noticed a screw up. If I put any sort of seat cushion in this bird My knee would be hitting the throttle. Came up with a solution doesn't look as nice but functions better.  Eliminate 2 switches that were just spares  and move it to the panel. Now the only issue is my throttle cable is two short so if anybody has one laying around let me know.  Would like about 14 inches, Or I have this other type, it has no push button. Never used this type what are you thoughts Better worse. Thanks Enjoy the before and after pictures.

I think my issue was when I was making the plate I set the engine as far back as I could to help counter the Gear box weight I would think if you move the engine 1/2 inch forward it would clear.

Should take a pic of your current engine mount if it has the side rails it will probably work with the 582 but the flat plate one may not. I had to do a bunch of rewelding on mine to make it fit a 582. One of the down tubes ran strait into the carb had to move it down a bit. I agree with Jim if your gonna spend all the money setting up a 582. Find a used 4 stroker. High time 912's are about the same money as a newer 582 Or if you want to fly with the Big boys buy a Jabiru

Are you planning to keep avid original or are you gonna update to the kitfox style wing along with the sleek look of the newer planes (kitfox and justaircraft) ? just curious

I not sure I would do 2 coats unless the directions say so. I would worry about the second coat letting loose from the first.

played with the Kitfox today. After scratching my head a bunch I think I finally came up with a decent heater idea. Not quite done with it yet I need to hook up the intake tube yet.  It will take air from the front of the engine ram air duct thats for another day. As you can see from the pictures the air will flow right through the heat muff and out the bottom through the trap door for summer time operation. Pull the cable on the dash and the trap door closes then air is forced into the cabin. I also packed the inside of the heat muff with stainless steel scrubbing pads. It is all made form Aluminum so the scat tubing is about the heaviest part. Hope it works

Something like this would also work https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Whelen-Wig-Wag-Model-SSF2150/192331125339?hash=item2cc7d4125b:g:rsEAAOSwlY1ZHJWf
Also there is all kinds of these for vehicle head lights, and a head light is normally 50 watts should be more than enough

Very nice airplane. I only see one problem it looks to me like in order to get yourself a airplane you need to give your wife a paver side walk and driveway, now that's a lot of work.

I also played around with that idea on my model 1 but didn't care for the shock having to lean that far forward and with out moving the gear forward.  That lead me to the idea that the shock would bind like crazy and thats how you twist things up. If you can get it figured out please share with all of us. Really nice work so far.

I got mine through Kitfox but did have to pay dearly for them. Well over a thousand bucks by the time they arrived.  I wish you could buy directly from the maker I hate nothing more than a middle man thinking they deserve a huge cut for doing next to nothing.
