If it is the same part number your OK, as far as I can tell rotax made only two styles of radiators. As far as the EIS I don't have a clue I have steam gauges

The tail is only one of the differences between the markIV and the A B and C models, and the easiest to change if someone wanted to fake a Mark IV. The first thing I would look at would be the spar carry through tubes should be 1 and 1/4 inch and the ends will be welded closed. the size of the fuselage wdth is also different.

If you check with snowmobile catalogs or repair shops, the ball joints are available new you can just cut your old off and weld on new

The Difference between a Good and a Great Landing
According to an old flight instructor with over 38,000 hours instruction. A Good Landing is one you can Walk away from. A Great Landing is one that the plane can Fly away from. He says I am making great landings for a tricycle but they may only be good for a taildragger

Supposedly it is complete, and tthe pictures show it finished to upholstery, there are supposed to be a few flaperon/rib tails that need to be redone but nothing I haven't repaired before. If it is true the original builder had a stroke after completion but before getting an airworthiness certificate. and the paint appears to only be in silver. The present owner isn't after money until I show and the price is resonable. It could be a good deal or it could be a waste of time, maybe just need paperwork to put it as a 2 person craft.

I have a chance to buy an unfinished Catalina but before I take a long drive to look at it, can somebody tell me what the interior cabin width is? it would also help to know if it will fit on a 20' flatbed carhauler, what is the width of the wheels to the outside so I don,t drive a thousand miles and find out I brought too small of a trailer. I am almost done with my A model, widening the rear of the doors afew inches and replacing the wood stringers with metal, when my wife finally gets around to teaching me how to put pictures up there will be a boat load. Finally mediated with the railroad over my back so I can get a few toysand the catalina looks like a good job the DAR said that as long as I mark the backseat as baggage only I can fly it Light Sport.

My radiator man said if I can come up with workable tanks he can put any size core I want in them, a buddy is going to give me a couple of radiators off a YZ 250 lets see if they are a closer match. by the way that was an ercoupe and a 172 both rent for $75 anhour wet going up tomorrow until our asses get too sore.

Ya, I was kind of thinking that myself, the core is actually abit smaller but this is the biggest heater core I have ever seen. I looked at a Metro and a Yugo in the junkyard and there radiators were smaller, It looks like its time to lay out some cash. Trying to get my flight lessons and airplane to finish up about the same time looks like flight is going to win and try not to spend too much renting the Ercoupe. The FBO where I am getting my lessons has both a !&@ and an ercoupe both rent for $75 an hour wet. Instruction $25 an hour and I have already finished ground school.

I have been given a heater core from a school bus that is 9"X2"X32" overall it appears that it will just fit the width of my Model A I am sure that I will still need to angle it to cut down on drag , or maybe not, any ideas?

Can someone show me some pics of a belly mount radiator that works, I have the big square rotax on an A model do I need to order the thin wide one from Kitfox or is there another good way of doing it?

Looks like you have been staying busy, though it looks like one of those projects that takes forever and doesn't seem to amount to much. Keep up the good work and keep pictures coming.

    Building an Instrument panel
OK, I am at the point of reinstalling parts into my Avid, my instrument panel was made out of some type of rigid plastic with the outside skins covered by aluminum. I see that the original panels were made of fiberglass and I have had one person suggest 1/16 inch lexan to build a new one. What have other people used? My panel weighs much more than it has to and since my diet isn't coming along the fastest I figure my plane needs one. What works for building a light weight panel.

How about adding a few tabs and putting an aluminum panel on each side of the gear instead of cloth covering. I think Highlander LLC or something like that has an extended gear that uses that approach.

Looking at the cost of a Rotax 912 and comparing it to the cost of a continental 100 I really wonder how rotax can get those prices more horsepower from the Continental and same price. If the installed weights I am hearing are right they should actually be close to the same weight, I can no longer see the advantage in the Rotax 4 stroke. With that said I only have about 100 hours on the 582 that is in the Avid A model that I am restoring and am not rich enough to buy the 4 stroke if I wanted to but I keep dreaming of the Fat Avid as my next plane.

I presentlyhave the 582 , but am looking at a Fat Avid Conversion, really looking for practical information on VW redrive but it doesn't appear to be ou there For the money a continental 0-200 or lycoming 235 seems to be winning but if I can find the info I hate to give up on the VW

That was kind of my thinking with the direct drive setups, I am still lookiing for first hand knowledge about the redrive setup. The $10,000.00 price tag is the problem, I know that people are flying with subarus and that has to be about a 250 pound engine where as a continental 0-200 or lycoming 235 weighs 200 to 240 pounds and a used engine can be bought for $3,000.00 or $4,000.00. the prices are better but do they work in an Avid. My first choice, on paper anyway would be the jabiru but how much power does the engine make at a speed where a 70 inch prop works.

    VW engine in an Avid/Fox
I am looking for people who have actually flown VW powered Avid/ Kitfox aircraft. Is it enough power ? W/B ? fuel consumption? Climb? Direct or Redrive? I am not sure wich way I want to go but 2 strokes have always made me nervous other than the VW, Corvair or Subaru I don't see an alternative that doesn't cost as much as a certified engine and most have about the same weight the days of cheap alternative power seem to be behind us . Like I said I want info on how it worked the VW site is just a bunch of people telling you that it can't work otherwise I would bvother them.

Personally if I was to add a water type heater core I would connect it in line with the radiator, an1/8 inch supply would not give much flow.

If the paint is over latex, it will be easy to clean it up, almost nothing will remove dried latex, wipe it off with some MEK or better yet get your Hanger mate to do it for you for being so stupid and inconsiderate.

I am waiting for my HYSOL to be shipped, I can get a package to Diomede quicker than Aircraft Spruce can get one to me. But I have started to cover my tail feathers.

OK , I am not sure where I should actually post this, but I need to replace a few tails on my wings before I cover them. I see that the manual calls for structural adhesive, Kitfox uses Hysol 9460 but they are the only place I can really find it, What other structural adhesive would you advise or should I just order the Hysol
