Chewie added a post in a topic Airventure 2014
For once I'd really like to go this year. No idea what to do for flights... 2-1/2 hr drive from O-Hare, I guess that's an option too.

He doesn't feel comfortable anymore being PIC. Feeling old perhaps.
Yet another reason I want to start building NOW and not when I'm half dead!
Oh - you're right about it being a one-off. I asked John if he were to build another one, how he would go about it. He said he couldn't - Brett McKinney has the jigs and tooling, and John doesn't have plans.

Is this by chance the ad that Bruce-somebody posted? It was a fat avid in New York. Had blue and white covering on the wings, red seats...

Kenneth, like we've discussed over the PM, I'd be curious about this for sure. Would probably sell my paramotor for about the same $!

I'm interested in building an Airdale or Pursang. Should I keep knocking?

How many members are on this list that would be interested? Divide $19,500 by that number... you see where I'm going with this?

I saw a no-bama sticker on the back of a Jeep with an ak47 graphic. The fun part about it was that it was parked on a neighborhood street in Portland. No preaching to the choir here!

You'd be amazed how many drones UAVs are flying in theater on hobby-grade 2-stroke engines!
...and in Alaska, I might add.

To all my friendsTo
All My Democrat Friends:
Please accept with
no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally
conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral
celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable
traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of
your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions
of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at
all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and
medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted
calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of
other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great.
Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other countries nor
the only "America" in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without
regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or

Chewie added a topic in Avid fox flyers pics and vids
My latest completionWe've been working on this for a while. Not a ton of plans or manuals on the build... but plenty on the maintenance. The fasteners are neither imperial nor metric. Put about 7,000 hours into it. And still a lot of improvements to be made, will take a few more years to refine. But the fuel injection and exhaust systems are definitely working well!
Sorry, I wasn't sure where to post this... "general hangar"? "close calls and dumb stunts"?? "For Sale"? "Hardcore"
Let me know your thoughts and experiences...

Chewie added a post in a topic FOR SALE: MKIV Kit/Parts/Zero time NSI w/mounts, cowl, prop
I came from a family of docs and nurses. But it's best for everyone that I tinker with machines rather than humans.
Did you ever hit Missoula as a kid? That's my hometown.
Not to hijack the thread or anything!

Chewie added a topic in Avidfoxflyers General Hangar
Good site.Admins, Mods, all you rock stars who keep this site going:
I wanted to ask you where you came up with the format for this forum. I find it extremely easy to navigate, it has a great mobile version, and something about the blue and the fonts and the layout is just inviting. Fun happy place.
I've used yahoo groups for a while, it sucked. Then yahoo decided to change it and now it's worse. Team kitfox is confusing as hell and always has been. Google groups looks like something out of the 80s. Some of the automotive ones are just plain scary. Basically, they're NOT inviting. For a newcomer, they say "go away, we're above you, you wouldn't understand, oh, btw you violated rule 5b of section II chapter 5.3 of our members agreement" Oops, Joey, you might wanna move this over to the "hardcore" section.
Only things I noticed about this site are minor - Lots of categories, so they tend to overlap, the "rotax" one shows up in two places.
But overall, Bravo friends! How did you do it??

Not sure I can convert the scans to text, that's above my pay grade.
When "History of Avid" is complete, I'm happy to append that to one single pdf...

Chewie added a post in a topic BCP
With an office full of mechanical engineers, very nice lobby, and a production floor that definitely had some process control and quality, the factory's plant had a lot invested in it, and all that costs $ in the end product for sure. It was basically a JV version of what I saw at Quest up in Sandpoint.
Why they put all that effort in a cub ... in Yakima?! I think someone was thinking how can they sell the simplest craft to the highest market at the lowest cost.
