    Left Skidding Tendancey
    Now that I am more comfortable flying my plane and don't have a dead mans grip on the controls, I am starting to notice things that I did not notice before.  I noticed that I have been flying with my right foot slightly depressing the rudder pedal.  When flying yesterday I took my feet off the rudder pedals and my plane has a left skidding tendency.  It doesn't matter which direction I fly.  If I don't touch the pedals at all it will come around and skid quite a bit.  The wings stay level so I don't need to adjust wash. I looked at the verticle stabilizer and sure enough it appears to sit slightly angled to the right when viewing it from the back.  If I measured it I bet it would be out of line at least a 1/2 inch if not more. 
     
    What do you recommend to fix the left skidding tendency on a Model C Avid.

    I would seem like the lump or bend in the tape with elevator full down would cause the air to be disrupted over the surface?

    Me and Randy have had a blast the last couple days fishing at the McArthur river and low level flying of the river looking for schools of fish.  In the video Randy sneaks underneath my plane.  If you look careful you can see him looking up trying to take a picture underneath my airplane.  It takes a minute for him to show up in video.  We limited out both days of fishing with very nice Silver Salmon.  Nice sandy beach makes for a Hawaii type vacation on a hot day minus the palm trees but plus moose, bears, salmon, wolverines, etc.  Randy's 30 inch bush tires really make a difference on that sand.  I am still trying to talk him out of his 26 inch bush tires.

    Does anyone know if AVID ever published a aircraft performance chart to determine takeoff and landing distances with varying temperatures and pressure systems.

    So I am assuming it has the dual ignition.  Sounds pretty good.  How is the power band.  Is it steady throughout or does it suddenly produce power at certain rpm's.

    Mag Check
    What is happening when I turn my key one click to left for mag check and the rpm drops 300 rpm (normal) and then another click to left and rpm reads 1000 rpm higher but engine does not change (abnormal).

    I think this is why if you are premixing the oil injection system needs to be completely removed.  What if the oil injection pump seizes?  Yes the gear is only plastic but why take chances.  I completely removed the cable from the airplane and took the oil injection pump off the engine.

    I have always thought that if the runway was suitable to immediately start a drift to left or right of runway so that is something did happen a guy could turn out and land.  I know in practice with my CFI that a straight out departure and low altitude makes it almost impossible to do a 180 and land without stalling the plane.

    A group of Southern Californians flying from the Mammoth Yosemite Airport toward Southern California escaped serious injury Sunday, July 28, when the engine on their single engine Bonanza airplane failed about 500 feet in the air near Lone Pine and the pilot had to make a crash landing.
    According to the Inyo County Sheriff's Department, "on Sunday, July 28, at approximately 12:45 p.m., a Southern California pilot, Sohail Simjee, departed from the Mammoth Yosemite Airport in a Bonanza single engine airplane heading southbound to Orange County.
    "Due to weather concerns, Simjee landed at the Lone Pine airport, rather than continuing his journey. Shortly after 3 p.m., Simjee attempted to fly out and resume his trip south.
    "While ascending to about 500 feet, the engine failed and Simjee had to make an emergency landing in a field just south of S.R. 136.
    "The plane was carrying four passengers; all four were transported to Southern Inyo Hospital for minor injuries."

    As a new pilot that is one of my fears when in turbulance is the structure of the aircraft.  I am not so worried about being tossed around but I do worry about structural failure because I am new to the amatuer built field. 
     
    Thanks for your comments thus far.  Any written tests or video would be great if someone could direct me to them via a link.
