That manual (that I once had) sure had a nice pic of the cannon plug with each pin labeled.
Sure hope someone here with that manual can post that up for you.

Sounds like a great project there! Kind of a "Heavy" Kitfox Lite
As far as mods its clear you know your stuff and have already done a lot of research so I won't be of any help except to say that the one thing I wished for on my KF2 was a wider and taller gear stance.
Looking forward to seeing your plane come together!

Good job with this guy! Always cool to see a good "rescue plane" story with someone willing to bring one back to airworthiness.

Looks good. Much like the one KF sells that I put in.
Had mine go off once when I still had 4 gall of wing gas left but was flying with that wing low for a period of time (fuel sloshed away from tank outlet).. The warning horn mighta saved me from a possible fuel starvation when I thought I was doing good.

Yeah yeah yeah! We've done this arm wrestling before . No way to settle it but you are sure right on some points: Any avg pilot can take off in 6ft with the right plane, power, and headwind. And also these guys are recreational pilots.. and not Bush Pilots, who deserve their own respect on different levels.
But there are some pretty good displays (yep YouTube displays) of backcountry landings by these "pretty boys" that deserve a nod for superb aviating, and anyone that can consistently land in a 6ft box and hammer the brakes to a stop with the prop tickling the ground also deserves a bit more credit than you're offering... IMHO
STOL is but a competition. Bush flying certainly has more depth. But in the frame of STOL competition these guys have the record to prove their place. Anyone out there is invited to come take it from them. Some guys out there could, and watching that showdown sure would be fun to see!

Yep, no pics but it was really laid back and quiet (which I like!). I got there late and missed the competition flying but had a better time sitting under the wing of Steve's plane for an hour or so "shootin the shit" with him and Jason Busat as Hal Stockman ran the pattern practicing up for the next day's finals.
Three of the best STOL guys on the planet, right here in little old BRD MN. Sure wish everyone in this game were as down to earth and humble as those guys!!

Yep, I know that I am most vulnerable when I'm focused out the window at something...
I find my airspeed is out of range and often times so is the ball.. perfect setup.

Here's where I can brag a little and tell you that I flew Steves current competition plane 2 years back... buuut yeah for only for about 45 seconds at 1000ft... and it was when he was running the 150 HP NA Apex so it was merely impressive and not insane.
The best part of course was the part where Steve was doing the flying and showing me the "edges of the envelope" that I never dared flirt with in a plane before!
That ride surely ranks on the top of the memorable aviation experiences for me!
Sure hope I can break away for a day here and head to BRD to see his 400HP Turbo Yamaha rip around!!

Always something sexy about a floatplane sitting in the water like that! Maybe I am weird!!!
That makes two of us!
But it must be the floating part of it, because I think it loses some visual appeal when its on the ice.

The purple trim is a little off so I think I'll have to go to a paint shop and get a better custom match and go over it again, but dang I am otherwise really happy with my first attempt at paint... at least way better than the "before pic"

Hey Yamma Fox, any idea if Bryan does the phazer wire ect yet? Just picked up a wrecked phazer for my KF 0038 conversion, and do like Teals gearbox but think its out of my price range, ill probably do an adaptor to use my Cbox.
Yep i like the c box and the option for the rk400, so id go that route. Contact Ben Kairys over in the FB group for that adapter, Ian Bange for the wire harness, and William Langford if you need the mount and header.

Look what made it into my "paint booth" today! Like the engine mount this project was one of those that I dreaded and procrastinated over... but I found both projects extremely satisfying and even "fun" once I dug in and tackled them.
Base color is done (Poly Tone Juneau White) and it turned out WAY above my expectations.. not due to my first time talent LOL.. mostly due to how forgiving the Poly Tone is to spray, even through my cheap HVLP gun.
Trim color to go next:

It also reminds me of the cracked frame on my 5th wheel that started coming apart 1000 miles from home last month.
First welder I talked with said he wouldn't touch it for 5 reasons and recommended that I put it on a flatbed and have it hauled home.
Next welder across town said "Oh yeah, I've seen em worse". In a few hours we were back on the road and back home now the repair is holding well and engineered better than it was originally.
Funny how your spirits are effected by a negative outside opinion sometimes... and visa-versa

It is just awe inspiring reading books and watching documentaries on the remote repair of aircraft in the bush (and polar ice caps). Some of those with engines or wings torn off and bent all to hell but they kept chugging away and flew em out!
Remember Henry Ford's quote:

I'd make one like that - but If I had fancy trim like that then I would have one less excuse for bad landings... and now you have no excuses so I think I'm in a good position here
