Ive been useing the Winderosa gaskets on polaris liberty motors for yrs, with great results.
Rotax Rick gets like $3500? To build u a 670 useing ur parts he needs from ur 582, Right?
I had my "AIRBOAT" motor redone here at a skidoo performance shop was in good shape inside so didnt need much, was just under $400

Its not all about the bearings but is worth looking at.  Biggest thing from what ive learned is the end seals get old, brittle, and crack, then u suck air and it becomes a lean condition and burn up the motor.
532 was single plug points ignition think mostly early ones had that, think in late 80's they started the exchange of a 532 to a 582.
582 was dual plug, electronic ignition, greyhead or bluehead difference in them was mostly cooling upgrade,
i think im right, anyone eles have better info, or correct me if im wrong.

Mmmm i do like the idea, of incresed weight, im still on the edge of the pond not ready to jumpin on the shorting of wings, even tho i shortend mine on #0038 by removing the 3.6bs fiberglass wing tips, lost 6"-7" on each wing but over 7lbs of weight, but im a simple man and no damm good at math. Hahahahahaaa hope it works for u. Ill keep up on this subject.

Im very interested in this subject also. Question tho, if u clip the wings, u mean cut some off the end of wing to make it shorter??  If u do that doesnt that make less wing area for lift? Ur tryin to get ur gross weight up and less wing area will pickup less right? or wrong? i dont know.
I know when i bought my black kitfox#0021 it weighed 530lbs, that its done at #950 gross with a 532, it weighs in at 505lbs now, and when i bought my blue Kitfox#0038 it weighed 488lbs that its done at #850 gross with a 503, it weighs in at 492lbs now.  Id love to up my blue kitfox to 950-1000gross.  But how much does that really matter other than on ur paperwork?

Here is a good comparison that i did when i took the Nancos off to install the Dessers, I did the swap cause i wanted to get away from the 8" wheel and 3/4" axels.  And wanted 1.5" axels.  I also have the weights of each someplace, But i remember the Dessers with 6" rim and complete clevland double puck caliper brake setup was 18.4lbs each,  and the same setup with goodyear 8.50x6'ribbed was 25lbs.

Not any reason that i know of, I just like them cause i was lucky enough to come across  3 earlie ones, 0021, 0038, 0048. But im very much into classic cars also, i have 14 cars and 5 motorcycles from 1930-1969 already restored, or original drivers, from streetrods/hotrods to factory muscle cars, so since i like old cars i guess that y i love the older planes, dont matter if its a KF, AV, or some other cool old plane.

Skidoo part number 503190854 is the spring, but ull have to make a few spacers and make ur slot in struts 2" longer.  When i changed mine a few weeks ago i went from 5" up of axel travel to 7.5".

Try and get urself some good patteren ribs from what u have, use a rotozip from lowe's/home depot and some aircraft plywood, way to easy to make them urself, i did that and made 8-10 ribs, hanger ribs and also false ribs.  And cheap that way, use the same plywood for makeing ur capstrips, glue it all up with 9460 hysol. Ull need hysol to glue ribs to spars also.

I do agree Jim, and Leni mentioned that also, But ive always taken them off, same as my family has always done thro the yrs, extra weight? Hahahahaaaaaaa
Anyways im going to remove them for winter, main reason is it has Matco M1 and they weak and one likes to stick and make the right brake drag, so think ill buy some Matco M5 like on my BlackBird.  Ive already rewelded the tab on brakepedal to match the other plane brake geometry so just need some M5.
At my house this am it -28
