Looks like a truly awesome way to spend your birthday Mr!

Did you play around with trying to embed the vid?  I think we can do it with the new software.  I will try and figure it out later today after I get the work fires put out.

Was that a mining cut or did they just do that to put the road in?

Okay, so honestly I didn't take much for photos on the trip.  All I had was my phone.  I did take a few, but we had our chapter photographer with us and she took over 700 photos.

    Here's a couple...

This last one is for Leni.  Anyone know why?

Cool Pics Larry.  I like the hybrid!  I love the early morning fog pictures.  I have some good ones of my son on his sled carving up fresh powder in the trees that has to be my all time favorite riding picture!

My pocket camera I bought especially for flying went in the drink (fugi water proof my ass!) and my cheap ass has not replaced it so I too have been stuck with nothing but my iphone to take pics.  It is amazing how good the pics look on the phone screen then when you put them on the computer they look like they were taken with a 1st generation digital cam.

Pick me coach, I know the answer!

Most of you guys have all kinds of mountains to see, but for us flat-landers they are pretty novel

This was the morning of our last day out.  Cynthania KY.  The morning fog rolling off the river next to the airport, packing up the tents

This one is for Doug.  East Carolina BBQ Chicken or as they say "Pickled Chicken, Cabbage and Taters"  Yes it was really good.  One of the guys at this little airport (East Raleigh, NC) ran off, got his big charcoal grill and 24 chickens and promptly threw us a party.  It's not every day, 12 crazy yankees show up in 9 light sport planes.

I like it!  A buddy found some that he uses on his Pacer and he swears by it, but he found it for experimentals someplace not the spendy cub crafters stuff.  As you said the gap in the Avids are alot less than piper so that stuff does not fit our planes.

Is it a foam rubber?  any more info on the actual type of foam used?  Any desire to make sell some?  The tape on my elevator gaps are toast and I need to replace them, and I like this idea much better.

    Thanks

So Cub Crafters has this fancy foam for sealing the elevator and rudder gaps.I've never seen it personally only in pics on their site. Chris Bolkan has talked about it a bit on the yahoo site. Expesive as all getup and Don't think it is sized for the avid gaps so I hacked something together out of marine foampost-136-0-83387600-1367156166_thumb.jpgpost-136-0-79830500-1367156214_thumb.jpg.Only flown with it once never moved. The marine foam is so lite weight and dense/rigid should stay put.Time will tell if this experiment will pan out. :dunno:

We hit about 70 today.  I should have taken the plane out yesterday while the strip was still useable.  The snow is getting real mushy now.  Will have to put the wheels back on before the next flight I think.  Hopefully it will stay warm and dry so my field will dry out soon.  Jim

Its spose to hit 50 Thurday and rain so I am sure we will be getting some rising rivers and the side roads will be flooding from the snow melt.  Good thing the plane is on the trailer and high and dry while I am gone

I can send them back to get repaired, but I am not real impressed with the comunications I have had with them, and I am not real impressed that the waranty work the previous owner agreed to wilol not be happening and now I have to pay to get the twisted floats fixed.  I saw another pair of 1450's for sale a few days ago and they were twisted just as bad as mine are.  The company seems to have seriously lacked in quality control.  I am not too crazy about dropping more money just to get back a set of floats that will probably still have a nasty twist sewn into them.

I would deffinitely be up for some weekend camping, fishing, exploring trips!  I can still get to the lodge on wheels, we would just have to land at Bentalit Lodge and have Dan come pick us up in the boat so I am not in a huge rush to get new floats, only if the deal is right (read that as really cheap)

My other option I have been kicking around is to get a set of tip sponsons and go with a mono float.  That may be intersting and I could just use the one good float I have for that...

Don't want to nix a good deal on floats but it would be great to get some summer flying together.  Need to do some overnight trips out fishing and exploring.  Hope to get Jack and Jeff flying and tuned up this summer too.

Are your Full Lotus floats not repairable?

at 40:1 keep a spare set of plugs in the plane.  When she starts popping and chugging and running rough when you pull the power back find a spot to land and change the plugs.

Joey has been running Amsoil 100:1 and has put alot of hours on his 2 engines so far on long CC trips and short local trips with no issues.

I am still a little old school and like to trust mine to quanitiy not chemistry

After speaking with a couple of rotax engine builders I was convinced to call Lockwood aero and get their oil injection delete kit(not on their website). It was $17 bucks and some shipping. I was also advised by them to use a 40:1 mixture instead of the factory listed 50:1. Apparently testing has showed that it help the lower bearings and low throttle setting lubrication.

Can barely do this much on my phone. Lemme git home to the computer.

Hey buddy, we all got excuses, we want results and we want them NOW :lmao:

tap tap tap.. yeah, thats my foot tapping the floor till we get pics!

OK Truth is I may be a bit jealous cause you guys have places like that you can fly to and check out cool shit.  Here we have mountains and wildlife and while those are breath taking at times, its not like hearing a P51 at 100 yards or being able to get up close and personal with planes of rich history!
