Well, I used just about everyone's ideas.
I used some aircraft paint stripper from a local automotive store. I brushed it in the area, and then wrapped with tin foil. Then came back with a wire brush. Worked like a champ!
Thanks,
Ron

Mine are not installed yet - plan for one on each tank, and one main valve in cockpit - part # 1PZA8.
Believe this part number is used for 2 sizes, but there are two more sizes.

My Grainger valves can be ordered any size - I bought the 3/8 size which also take 3/8 NPT fittings for -6 tube or push-on for 3/8 hose. You can get cheaper brass valves from them - I just liked the chrome and spent a few more bucks.

I really like what this guy is doing on the project. I just can't swallow the loads impressed on the crank shaft with his choice of materials for it. I have spoke with him a few times.....he is convinced the crank is fine. Me.....not so much. I have run all kinds of static and dynamic numbers and it just doesn't look good on the crank after a few million cycles. There is a lot of things trying to twist the crank apart.
I think I will be getting with Scott Casler for a stroker 2 cylinder. James Wiebe seems to get along well with on. Here is the link.....nice guy and very knowledgeable.

I've been building the turtledeck using aluminum for the sides and a sheet of .090 lexan for the top and I'm wondering how much reinforcement It needs. I saw a couple pics way back that showed a single post with a flat pad on top that butted against the t-deck at the center but I cant find them now.
I'm curious if that had a camlock on it and if just that center support was enough that it wasnt bouncing around.
My t-deck is about 3" taller than stock at the rear carry through.

Go to your local marina and get some outboard fogging spray.
Run a little 100LL, 50:1 with dino-oil through the motor to purge out the alcohol contaminated crap, follow fogging instructions on the can of spray.
Plastic bag the carbs and plug the exhaust.
Good to go. Be safe.

Trying to decide the best way to store my bird for 6 months while I'm off in the sandbox. Obviously the ethanol is coming out. I'm thinking a gallon or two of Avgas in each tank is better than leaving them dry. Should I pickle the motor too? Never done it... not even sure how but I'm thinking 6 mos in a dry climate it'll prob be fine. Looking for suggestions if you guys have them. Poor ol girl
