Haven't posted much on this site but I sure do like this forum and thought I would add some pics. I have conversed with Joey back in the day on the PPC forum when I decided that PPC's are fun but going 30 mph in circles gets old when you have as much money tied up in a PPC as what a Kitfox or Avid costs. And oh yeah, you get to go places in a Kitfox or Avid.

She's real fine....
Hahaha... Seriously, probably a way over modified O360 Lycoming.
Someone needs to explain to this guy that you will never get out of an airplane (experimental or certified) what you have in it, when you go to this extreme! Titanium panel? Seriously?

good looking plane .I like the paint ,that weight isn't bad either ,performance should be great with that horsepower .I have no cg info for you but mine is at the forward limit and flies beautifully.

I bet with That 409 out front there isn't much stol left in it. Think I will stick with my little Avid.

I mean I'm sure it's fun but at the end of the day it's stil just a 100mph Super Cub right?

Hmm that's interesting Jim. I think before I get too crazy I am going to get a few of those stand offs that are longer to get a better angle on the joint and then clean up the joint some and go from there. I have a huge list of projects I want to do on the plane this winter and not enough time. It's going to be especially hard considering it's been parked for the last 6 months and all I'm going to want to do is fly it when I get home. Were fortunate to have year round flying weather in CA.

I think lots of people had the factory muffler mounts break. I know two of mine did. If my memory is correct, I believe John Miller's mount also broke and that is why he mounted his muffler on the firewall. Jim

So if your wrapped up in this huge, wet towel,
What color are you now??

I will second that salute to fellow vets - But let us all remember the ones who were wounded or died - they are the heroes - The rest of us lucky ones just did our duty, and got to come Home.Just wanted to say thanks to all the Men and Women who have served and are serving in the Military.Im grateful for the freedoms you have made possible for me and my family.Sometimes we temporarily forget about you when we get caught up in our busy lives but we will always be thankful for what you do.Randy

I believe it is now listed as the Stratus2000, Reiner sold the company about 13 years ago, but it is still the same Subaru EA-81 with twin carbs, a stainless exhaust that "adds 10 hp", a reground cam, redrive, and I think it is bored over .020? You can read anything between 105 hp and 115 hp at higher rpm - the original engine was rated at 72 hp in a car for the American single carb version with smog controls - Jap 2 carb was more hp.
This is a liquid-cooled, re-engineered, boxer engine of the VW and Porche, and Contentental, Lycoming type of flat, opposed 4 cylinder, 4 cycle, short-stroke like the Rotax.
Eggenfeldner and some others continued with the Subaru engine conversions with engines having overhead cams, double cams, more horses, and all too heavy for our birds.
Didn't means to give a seminar - just check the website for Stratus2000 - Suberavid loves his.

In the Mark IV construction manual, in the engine section, there is a procedure for installing the muffler, that shows the factory mounts for the grey head engine. Pretty involved set of braces and clamps, but looks like it would be strong enough and have the engine and muffler moving together.

I came across some pipe mounts for a two stroke dirt bike that would work well in this application too I think although they are a fixed length.
-
Looks like you already have the info - I thought of this when remembering my 49 Ford and 55 Studebaker that I had to put new exhaust hanger on. The old ones were more of a canvas web strap then - I guess the modern ones are now rubber.
Hope this helped.
P,S. You can bend the steel strap to give you angle, offset, standoff.

Bath Towels
Who the frack is the WOMAN who designed modern bath towels??? This has to be a woman.
No man would design a bath towel to have near the same square footage as the average living room carpet.
No man would design a bath towel of some material that is thick enough to insulate your hunting cabin.
No man would design a bath towel to have a decorative band of nonabsorbent material 6" wide on each end.
No man would design a bath towel to have ugly colors that bleed when the towel gets WET!!
ARGHHHH!!

Slightly off topic, but is that a stock motor mount? Mie looks nothing like it on the engine mounts but I don't know if mine is correct or not. They used to sell just the ball and sockets for the 2 stroke exhaust it might be time for a new set, they do wear out eventually.
This motor mount is the dynasmooth motor mount. It absorbs more of the vibration from the two stroke engine then the earlier motor mounts did. A later, better idea from Avid Jim Chuk

Some people just cant understand - I would have put a $3000 C-90 or O-200 in it, painted it a lot cheaper than the e$pensive job - and left the rest stock, except for Grove brakes and wheels.
Still cant understand why a 1940's Cub us worth what they are selling for today.
Oh, excuse me - this is a 1950's SUPER-Cub - only 60 years old instead of 70 years old - guess the O-360 was stock!
My 11-year-old truck is probably worth about $3000 now - Hope it's an antique soon!
Maybe I'm just too poor - anyone got a job for an old machinist?
