    Questions about gear axle placement
I was just looking at the just superstol landing gear. Looks very simple but the axle placement is probably 12 inches ahead of the placement on the avid. I am sure that axle placement is predicated on a lot of factors, probably raising the tail one of the most important.
Please tell your uneducated builder the penalties for moving the axle ahead to allow for air shock placement in a landing system. Not doing this incarnation but who knows about the future.

Well folks, the kitfox is going on a diet.  While I save to buy some larger tires and get a W&B done I figured I might as well work on the panel some.  I removed the Attitude Indicator, Directional Gyro and the Turn Coordinator along with the Suction Gauge and all associated wiring and tubing.  I also removed the GPS, dock and antenna.

I wouldn't consider 3000 ft high altitude by any means but yes the higher you go the less performance you get. This is true in any airplane. If you want what seems like a long takeoff and slow climb take off at 6500ft on a 85 degree day with 28 gallons and 100lbs of camp gear on board. This is the scenario on the last fuel stop when I go into the Idaho backcountry. Immediately after takeoff I have to climb to 9500ft to get over a mountain. Luckily it's only about 30 miles once over that mountain to the camping strip but the poor ol throttle doesn't come off the firewall for that flight most of the time.

As far as pitch you will see some increase at 6400-6500 rpm but you are going to lose 5-10 mph cruise. It's always a compromise. With my warp I would tweak it down to half degree increments and 6200 on takeoff had the best compromise between cruise and climb. I always re pitched in the spring and fall as hot weather effects this as well. If you want to forget about all this above paragraph and always have the best prop for a given situation get an IVO inflight adjustable

High Altitude Take Off and Landing
Wondering if I could get input from any of you regarding take off and landing performances at different altitudes with the rotax 582.  I noticed that when I take off at 2500 msl the take roll is almost double it seems like.

I have a ground adjustable prop and still don't have it in my head what difference it makes to take off at 6100 rpm (cruise pitch) and 6400 to 6800 (climb).  It would seem that if I am grabbing more air on take off that would help me to get off the ground quicker.

    In summary:

What differences should I expect in take off performance from 200 msl to 3000 msl.

At high altitude what do I gain my decreasing my pitch.

Not to many planes that make an Avid look big when sitting next to it! Nice combo! I've always said I wish I had an RV-4 for when I want to get someplace in a hurry..

KING O SIGNED DEAL WITH MEXICO :<((
FOX news just reported that Obama has signed a deal with Mexico to give food stamps immediately to all illegal aliens who manage to cross the border!
This man and his Communist owners have bankrupted our country, strangled our military and oil and coal production, stopped the Canadian pipeline, caused layoffs, raised taxes, raped our health insurance benefits, stole $700 Billion from my Medicare, and failed to protect the borders, and supplied guns to Mexican drug gangs, and want to take our guns away.
What more can I say? Don't think I have the words for anything more that would be legal to say !!!! Wonder if they also get a free Obamaphone?
Did anyone notice that the Navy has made a deal to buy Man-made aviation fuel at a cost of nearly $60 a gallon?

Yes the GU canard did not like the rain but the problem is solved with VG's.  I flew mine without them for the first couple of years and you could feel the moisture even before you would see with about 10 lbs of extra pull on the stick.  I never had to try and land it in the rain but you would need to be hot at around 100mph to keep the canard flying.  Not much rain to worry about in WY so I got away without the VG's for that long.

Rotax Rick sells a plate that allows you to ditch the entire pump and plumbing and cover up the hole.

It's all what your perspective is. If this is all you ever fly over the River in the bottom of the canyon looks pretty good. If your used to flying over miles and miles of treeless flat land then I supposed it's a bit scary. This is where having faith in your equipment comes into play. It is a risk assessment for sure. I accept the risk for the reward of getting to see some of the most amazing country in the lower 48.

Impressive scenery, nice video clips. Not so many emergency landing spots there. A bit intimidating emergency-wise...

Disconnect the cable and use premix.  I always left a little in the oil tank just to keep the pump lubed and figured it I was somewhere it would be difficult to premix I could just hook the cable back up and run straight gas with the injector.

Lighter is better; go with carbon fiber foam core if you can afford it.  A friend told me that anytime you are wondering about putting something on your airplane, throw it up in the air.  If it doesn't come down then it is good to put on your plane.

All of the above - plus - winning the 2014 elections, IMO.And all this Race BS - is just that - I don't care what a big 16-year-old's color is - If I get attacked and overwhelmed by one who says "You are going to die", then I will stop him any way I can - Well, he may not have to say anything - You can color him or color me, DEAD! And no apologies!
There is no difference between an attack by a person or a bear - you have a right to defend yourself.
P.S. I was raised by the old saying, "Better to have 12 men judging you, rather than 6 men carrying you"!

HMMMM, why would this administration want to keep this stirred up?

    1. To use it as a tool to attack those unnecessary stand your ground self defense laws?
    2. To use it to try to stir up more anti gun sentiment and promote anti gun laws?
    3. To use if as a way to increase race baiting and racial division?
    4. To keep the distraction going so no one remembers about the IRS, Bengausi, monitoring American citizen communications, fast and furious, etc, ...?
    5. All of the above?

Nice looking pair!  and should make a nice combination.  I heard the Q2 had issues in the rain; disrupting the airflow over the wing.  Is tthat the case and did it get resolved?
