The company I work for uses a two part epxoy primer on acft, its very durable and expensive.

The tube is so short and stout I wasn’t sure how I would be able to bend it.
I'll have to put some thought into that. I'd rather do that than weld it. Thanks for the impute.

I hear what you’re saying, I’m somewhat familiar with owner built parts, working at a 145 repair station we have to build parts that are no longer available on behalf of the owner.

FWD LH wing spar/fuselage attach holes

Hopefully the pictures posted. I have a problem, the fwd. wing spar attach point holes were not drilled correctly and don’t line up perfectly with fuselage attach point. The fwd. spar holes are approx. 1/8 of an inch aft of the fuselage attach point. I can’t get the pin to drop through. My plan is to remove and weld a new attach point on the fuselage, I figure this will be the easiest and safest fix. I'd remove the current fuselage attach tube and weld a new tube in 1/8 aft, using the same holes, no splicing of tubes. What do you think? Does my corrective action sound good?

The Nexus 7 is a 7" tablet. I got mine a month ago on eBay for $150
with free shipping. It's a2012 model, 32 GB, has a bright screen that u can see in daylight. It was the tablet avare recommended. It uses the android operating system which is different than what an iPad uses. It can go on the internet, in fact I'm typing this message on mine now but you need WiFi to do it. Jim Chuk

I have the same style of fuselage, but I have a short inseam and am not really worried about leg room, did the firewall get bent out just below the motor mounts, or does it need to e lower for engine clearance?

here is a pic I found of my airframe you can see the four small tabs in the lower front foot well. My original firewall was executed right at the tips of the longest two my new fire wall extends about 2.5" in front of them. Hope this helps

I haven't had a chance to look for the pedals yet as I've been out of town for a while maybe Joey will beat me to it? as for your firewall concerns which airframe are you working with? does the lower front execute with a piece of tubing going nicely from left to right down at the feet or do you just have the four small tabs sticking out front that the rudder pedals bolt onto? Mine is the older one with just the four tabs so when I bent my firewall a couple weeks ago I made the lower end stick out about 2.5" in front of these tabs giving me just a little more foot room and a better place to mount my master cylinders. If you have the flat bottom than you already have the more forward mounting position in which case you can just make it go right straight into it. I hope this makes since I will try and get some pics of my new firewall in the next couple days so you can see what I'm talking about in

B model Pedals will also work in fact any pedal for an Avid or Kitfox with cable brakes would do the job, I am sure I could build these on my own, but I would rather buy a set and adapt to hydraulics later, waiting on Pedals before I build my firewall, so If anyone can give me the height of where the bend for the firewall is at I would appreciate it.
Next warm day the cabin top and the turtle deck is being built, I will get to try out my 3 in one brake.

It resists scratches better than spray-can paint.   One of the toughest I have found lately is Stewarts - cant scratch it!
But, you can probably find something cheaper.
I guess the cockpit gets more human wear and tear than any other part of the plane during normal use.

    Painting fuselage cage
    Fellas,

I'm going to paint the cockpit fuselage tubes black to match my future paint scheme. Right now they are powder coated white.

Would you suggest using a two part epoxy paint or something else?

    Thanks,
    Ron

If you are talking about just a normal fuel pressure gauge and sender, I found the gauge and sender at Van's aircraft was the cheapest I could find. The price for both together was below $100. I use it on my Starduster Too and it works great! It would be better if it had a light that got your attention when dropping below 3 or 4 PSI...I lost my mechanical fuel pump for I don't know how long before I realized that needle was low.

Anyway, here is the link for the gauge and the sender.

Thought I would add my fancy fuel diagram to illustrate my description.   Since I spent so much time on it, I want to show it to someone

I fitted the homemade finger strainers, and am pretty happy with the results.  I added inspection covers directly under the fuel tank bungs so that they will be very easy to remove and inspect.  If there is residual fuel in the tanks because the lower part of the strainers are clogged, these inspection covers would make it very easy to catch the pour when the fittings are removed.   There's an inline fuel filter on each side before the fuel lines join together and go to the fuel pumps.

Ditto the thoughts on fuel flow gauges.  When I'm able to watch both fuel flow and pressure, I feel like I have my finger right on the pulse of the fuel system.  Very comforting.

I added an electric standby pump in parallel with the Mikuni pump, with external check valves after both pumps.  Given that there's a completely redundant fuel path, I was comfortable putting a fairly cheap gear-based gas/oil flow meter in line with the main pump.   I would *not* put such a meter in the only fuel path.

Alright - while I am trying to read all the Braile-converted signs, What is Nexus 7 , and how do you get it, and use it?  What is avare?  Do I need an I-pod / I-pad.... ?

    Alaska Flyers,  FYI,
When I was flying into Birchwood in the 90's, there was what appeared to be a derelict Catalina parked there - looked like it had not flown or been maintained for a long time - always wondered what happened to it - but, not being a swimmer - didn't check on it.

Suber Avid raised his skylight that way too - He posted some photos of his -
Now, Leni has me wondering what the nylon-looking thingy under the bolt head is for???
Wouldn't it be easier to swing your wings using the fast-pin, and only putting the bolts in the front when you want to hoist it?  Don't you trust the fast-pin?  But, knowing how you fly, getting stuck at the edge of a pond, and needing a come-a-long and a tree limb for a hoist, guess the bolts are a necessity!

Not to hijack (no not trying to make it a pun) this thread, but I just saw how you have the skylight extending over the wing a little. I don't have gap seals there or any extension. I think that's a good idea. Maybe when I replace the skylight at a later date I'll do the same thing. Especially since I'd have to cut it to that width anyway.
