Joey, I have a full size drawing of the MK4 elevator that I used when I upgraded mine. Your welcome to use it if you think it would help.

It shows the trim tab on the elevator on the other side of the drawing.

It looks like Kitfox puts the servo inside the elevator between ribs, with an access plate on top;  and Avid puts it below the flat elevator with a nice fiberglass cover - I like that cover.

    Automobile use for Airventure week?
Here's the thing. I'm looking for a RH fuel tank for our Cessna 150. (not 152) Was thinking if someone had access to one, I'd consider trading use of my 99 Grand Prix for the week of the convention in trade.

    Any thoughts?

BTW, I'm about 30 minutes from Oshkosh and would assist on getting car to you. (but not so much on your gas.) I have another car I can use, so this one is sitting anyway.

    Xguy,
Just wondering what the track is on that gear, and how tall - My Grove is 80" outside of 600x6 tires, and 34" tall.

Joey, the Avid drawings are on the Yahoo site files section.  I don't seem to have any pictures of mine that I can lay my hands on.

    Joey,
My MAC trim tab servo has 4 mounting holes in a 2 1/2 inch square - the rear two holes are 4 inches from the front of the elevator cutout where the hinge for the tab is located.   I have 3 photos of bare elevator, servo and trim tab, and will edit this and post them later today.  Note:  This is a factory KF1 elevator, not the larger ones that I am building with.   Hope this helps.
The photos in My Avid Magnum manual would not help you - My Kitfox 4 manual has some drawings, and I can post them later on if you want them.

    Joey,
I may have some drawings in one of my manuals - Tomorrow I could post a couple of photos of a Kitfox elevator with e-trim.  I can sell the servo - I am going with manual trim tab.

I think that they had the fly-in earlier, BCP held theirs somewhere else this year which escapes me at the moment.  I have a friend in Canada that may try to fly in also.  Thinking about three weeks from now but I will get on the ball and see if I can get the prop spinnin', does that sound like something that might work for you?  Any one else interested feel free to chime in here.

thanks its been a fun flying summer that's for sure Randy ,ive also had a little friction on fed land (its kind of funny when they crudely cross out plate number and write down your n number on the warning)but the RAF website has a printable version of the Montana law and I keep a copy in both planes.
Paul I would love to finally make it in to Johnson so let me know when your goin again , I even bought the fishing license for the trip ,didn't get to use it. when is their flyin?

I run high voltage Lithium Polymer batteries in my RC helis. I've had good luck but others have had them spontaneously combust while sitting on their workbench. Some great technology available out there but its still being refined.

Pic request MK4 elevator with electric trim
Looking for some pictures of a MK4 elevator that shows the trim tab and if able how an electronic servo is mounted and covered. My manual shows the cable set up. Highwing LLC is building me the bigger elevator and I am going with electric trim and I just wanted to send him a couple pics.

    Thanks!

I also have about 20 hrs on my EarthX without a hitch so far but I will keep an eye on new data and my battery.  No plans to pull it from the plane at this point.

There is an article in "AeroElectrics" in this months Kitplanes mag about the L-bats - From what I could understand, they are probably NOT the equivalent replacement for our Lead-Acid batteries, and there is little info that the makers will give out.
The article also says that they cant be treated the same way as the old batteries as far as charging and maintenance.
They are definitely still in the "experimental" stages of development.
Robert L. Nuckolls III, the author, also wants input to his site about problems with them to add to what others have written.

Very nice. I'm jealous. I can't seem to find time for my airplane project, much less my car projects (all of our cars are projects).

Good points guys. What you're saying makes sense Randy. I guess you can move your right leg toward the middle because there is no inward curve of the side of the fuselage like there is on your left.

I'm not a big guy, so this won't be much of a factor for me, but I'd like to make it as comfortable as I can for others too.
