    Doug,If I am seeing this right, the spring is connected to a cable which runs thru a pulley and connects to the up elevator cable - and if a bolt or el-cable breaks, the spring no longer will have any force on it to bring the elevator up? Maybe?
    I think the one I saw was hooked to a solid part.

    That's an interesting system. The yoke connected to the leading edge of the HS looks pretty much like other cub setups I've seen, but they added a spring tensioner to put some up elevator pressure on the control system. Do other cubs have the spring biasing system like this?

    The company is Experimental Exhaust in Minnesota. The do make a BEAUTIFUL product and ended up giving my friend a hell of a deal on it because they moved the plant during his project and it took so long. Perhaps I shouldn't be so hard on them, but it did take nearly a year.

    Sorry, pic was on my phone. Rotate 90* right, view is from rear looking forward. The dark is fuse and light is horiz. stab. framing. Can only see the elevator and trim attach tab, not the elevator itself. Personally, I get nervous at the thought of springs or cables or pulleys ie., anything hard, breaking and jamming up something critical. That's why I like the Aerotrek trim assist. Bungee breaks and not much chance of jamming the controls.

    Thanks so much Ed, I appreciate it.

    No, $995 is not the reserve price I have a lot more money and time in that project than $995. Not trying to get rich, but trying to see enonugh out of it that I can get something else that is more suited to my needs.

    I am in Los Angeles, 4 miles west of Van Nuys airport.

    If he is serious he can call me, I put my phone number in the eBay listing. You have done more than enough by just telling him about the airplane on eBay, thank you sincerely.

    Good thoughts. Perhaps that is the reason it is for sale.

    Please excuse my ignorance;
    Is that looking forward from the rear of the stabalizer & leading edge of the elevator?

    Belly Radiator
    i have decided to not use the cheek radiators but a belly radiator that came with the project.  This is on my Avid HH.  Ron indicated there was an article (here some place) that talked about mounting the unit 1 inch below the belly (not flush) for cooling purposes. If any one has a belly radiator  I would also be interested how and where you placed the filler cap? Also, how did you link and control the flap on the back of the radiator housing? Looking from the front of  the motor I plan to place the filler cap on the right side and back about 3 inches from where the old cheek radiator would have been mounted.  I hope this is adequate clearance from the exhaust heat.

    I am open to any other advice on this subject.

    EZFlap,
    I just got a call from a "Bill" in Arizona who wanted to ask about buying my Kitfox 1, because he has Kitfox 3 wings and tail to build from - I told him about your Avid on ebay - He was going to check it out. Guess I just lost a possible sale, but that's OK. I may just part mine out.
    Where are you located? California? That's closer to him than Missouri, and I wont box mine to ship.
    Is $995 the reserve price too?
    I have his phone number if you want to talk to him.

    Some people in this world are rich, or skilled in doing things like covering a mountain with sheets, getting hundreds of people to pose nude for a photo, hanging a Kitfox, or other stupid things, etc., and calling it "Art" -
    The rest of us have to work for a living!
    I would rather see the plane hanging at an airport, in a museum, instead of in a dump of an empty building somewhere.

    I agree with AkFlyer on the lawsuits and stupid juries - Bet Mr. Taylor and Mr. Piper turned over in their graves after the $50 million award on the old Piper crash.
    I understand that EAA has a foolproof (pun intended) liability clause for selling, and that no AB Experimental aircraft seller has ever been held liable.

    A friend just completed an 80 to 100 HP upgrade to his MKIV. He decided he needed a new exhaust too. He had an exhaust manufacturer build his exhaust. I'll find out the name and report back. They sent him a bunch of PVC pipes and he mocked it up with the PVC and returned it to them and they sent back a beautiful exhaust that fit perfectly.

    The downside was that it took a very long time. The factory moved yada yada yada. It ended up taking the better part of a year! He was ready except for that so you can imagine the frustration.

    We were all thinking he should have just bought the kit with all the little pieces and had it welded up. it would have been done 9 months sooner!

    It could have been a plane donated by someones widow or family.. you know, the ones who refuse to sell an airplane that will ever fly again because they are scared shitless of being sued when some guy gets drunk and crashes the plane then his wife sues the original builder and gets millions because the plane was not drunken idiot proof..  Seems the same guys saying this is not a great way to show an airplane. would be the same guys walking around Cabelas checking out the J3 or the Beaver hanging from the ceiling.  If the plane wont fly again, I think its cool that it is displayed and not just left to rot in a corner of a barn or hangar or left outside under a tarp like mine was when I found it.

    I think mine would have looked much better hanging from a ceiling than under a rotted green tarp with trees falling on it.

    Thanks for posting the vid!

    If you want to get real creative, here is a pic I took at Osh'14 of the trim system in a Carbon Cub.

    From Wikipidia;

    Signer gives a humorous twist to the concept of cause and effect and to the traditional scientific method of experimentation and discovery, taking on the self-evidence of scientific logic as an artistic challenge. As well as working in his studio, which he calls his lab, Signer often takes off to the Swiss mountains to conduct larger experiments. A recent example of his installation work was "Accident as sculpture" (Unfall als Skulptur)(2008) in which Signer had a three-wheeled delivery car, loaded with water barrels, roll down an 11 m high ramp and up the other side. At the apex, the vehicle overturned and crashed to the ground. The resulting chaotic arrangement constituted the exhibition at Kunstraum Dornbirn.  Another example, the video 56 Small Helicopters (56 Kleine Helikopter) (2008) shows a squadron of 56 remote-controlled toy helicopters as they rise into the air, collide with each other, carom off the ceiling and walls, and finally die in mechanical spasms on the floor.

    Perhaps he has been to Colorado, Washington, Alaska?

    The Avid Flyer Model B is now up for auction on eBay, with a low starting price and a low reserve price. This will make someone a really nice little airplane. Good luck bidding.
