Shrinking fabric

Is it worth installing the 3/8 .035 aluminum tube into the trailing edge of the wing. I have enough material here to add it but I was wondering what are the benefits of shrinking the fabric to 350 degrees. In the book is says to stop at 300 degrees with out the tubing installed.  Is it worth the extra 3 lbs of tubing?

I didn't do it.

I think we went to 280 degrees in one wing and 300 on the other with slight deformation.  I did rib stitch for extra security.

I just went and looked on line at airparts inc. and they show their 3/8 tube at .055 lb per ft.  That means it would add 1.32 lb for 24'.  As far as the fabric bending the trailing edge, I would ask what weight fabric are you using?  If you go with the medium weight, it will pull more than the ultralight fabric.   Jim Chuk

I think I stopped my heating around 275 or 280.  I never made it to 300.  No need in these birds.  Yes I did rib stitch as well as I wanted the increased VNE.
