Flight Instructor via Hours amassed in Type

General Question:

Is it possible to become a flight instructor (i.e. provide log book instructed flight time) just by amassing a large number of hours in a type of aircraft?  I don't see anything in the FAR's on this, though have heard recently that this could be the case (by a person conducting the training).  Seems like you would need to go through the full CFI wickets to me vice grabbing a ton of hours (as there is much more to instruction than logging hours) or am I missing some provision somewhere?

No you can't do it on hours alone.

I believe our C5Engineer has been making some plans to be a CFI - Maybe he has the requirements?

Did the same person suggest some snipe would be good for dinner, and it'd be great if you'd go hunt some?
