Kahle76 added a post in a topic Rudder Cable Fairings
TJay,
I tried heating the plastic with a hot air gun without much success and making rejects in the process. I ended up with 2 sets. I promised EdMO a set for his generous help with my build so I don't have any extras. Sorry

Kahle76 added a post in a topic Rudder Cable Fairings
I purchased the polystyrene 0.040 sheets from IASCO. The mold was made with coil stock aluminum used in house construction. The hole on the side of the box is for the shop vac. It's a fairly easy process, screw plastic sheet to the frame, place under the broiler in your very understanding wife's oven until it just starts to smoke, then press frame w/ plastic sheet over the mold with the shop vac on and wait 3 min until it cools before shutting the vacuum off and pulling the part. There are multiple videos on YouTube showing the process.

Rudder Cable FairingsMade some vacuum formed rudder cable fairings today that are long enough to clear the cable during full rudder deflection. Notice the store bought fairing in the foreground. The paint booth is finished and after attaching these fairing, I get to start painting this week.

Kahle76 added a post in a topic Wing tanks for sale
I don't think it would work. I would like to get them out of my shop, so I'm taking any offer.
Thanks,
Mike

Wing tanks for saleA pair of old style, polyester, Kitfox model IV, non-ethanol, wing tanks. I'm guessing that there are hundreds of these sitting in the back corners of hangers. Thought I would move them out of my corner.

Paint Booth SizeIt looks like I'm ready to start painting and only 3 months behind schedule. The plan was to build a larger booth in the unconditioned section of my shop and paint last fall on nice days. Well....it's cold here in SE MO and I need to build a smaller one in the heated section that's just 20'x36'. I will still need a portion of this area to do prep work, sand, layout Etc. Would a 10'x20' work?
Thanks,
Mike- 11 replies

Thanks for the concern. We're definitely high and dry here in Jackson. It's a different story just to the east and the predicted crest of the MS is going to be a record breaker. KFVS showed a video of Saberliner in Perryville, 30 miles north, moving their planes from the airport to higher ground on the highway using tractors as tugs.
