  1. Okay Guys.  I may be the tallest Avid owner/pilot at 6’ 5”.  Let’s just say things are tight, especially with feet/leg position.  I need your help on options to get more legroom!

I see limited gains from changing the seat alone and adding domes in the Lexan above my head, I think I really need to look at pushing my rudder pedals forward with clean modifications.

My project Model C is planned for the 582.   The basic exhaust may limit firewall modifications....

What have have you guys seen as options? Does anybody know anyone who has modified both firewall and airframe to push the pedals forward?

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

If you have the sling seat attach the back bottom of seat as far back as you can (if you haven't already).  A couple of inches can make a difference.

  2. Thanks for all the advice.  I measured the axles and they are 3/4 exactly.  I think pounding out the old ones created the problem and Hysol per Tjay may be the solution.

Should hold up just fine in there. If they ever got to get removed just warm them up.

Thanks again.  This forum is awesome.

  4.  A bird like that would open up Alaska to all kinds of possibilities.  Helicopter plane combo.  When they get around 15,000 Ill order one.  LOL.  Never happen.

  5. Its definitely 3/4".  When I removed the original AVID axle I had to pound it out a little.  The Matco axle slides in very easy. It would be a very micro thin sleeve if one was available.  I was told if it had any space at all it would damage the receiving end.

  6. Good Afternoon,

I purchased 3/4" axles from Matco.  The axle's are slightly smaller than the original AVID axles which created a little slop where the axles fit to landing gear.  Have any of you experienced this and how did you get it tight again.  Is there a standard sleeve I can order?

    Thanks

  7. I installed a stainless firewall and bought fire blanket at the aircraft store and installed on cockpit side.  Looks great.  I got the stainless sheet metal from a local sheet metal fab shop.

  8. Me and Randy took off Sunday afternoon and did some mountain flying.  Dead calm air.  I was tracking Randy's trail and you can see him ahead of me.  Video is somewhat boring but still fun to make.

  9. He would't happen to be looking to adopt would he? I'm available. Mike ;-)

LOL.  I have tried to talk him into letting me borrow one for the weekend but since my AVID could fit in his baggage compartment he doesn't feel I am qualified. LOL
