  2. i removed mine with a mapp torch, but it may discolor your chrome.  I built myself new sticks that center them on the body so i didnt care about the old ones

  3. plus the heavy engine made it impossible to use flaps for landing as it didnt have enough elevator.  i wouldnt give up my seat in the electric chair to have a vw on a fox or avid.

  4. I have flown a direct drive 2180cc vw powered kitfox 4-1200.  the biggest prop you can swing with the rpm of that config is 62 inches which equates to piss poor performance.  the best solo climb i saw was about 600 fpm, dual we were lucky to see 200 fpm. not a performer whatsoever.

  5. I set my idle stops at about 2200 rpm. That being said I never let it idle below about 2600 on the ground so as to keep the gearbox from chattering.  even a slow power off approach with the throttle pulled back to the stops gives an engine rpm of around 3000 to 3300 because of the windmilling of the prop.  Never had an issue with these settings

  6. Did a carb sync and everything came out where it was supposed to.  Prop pitch at 6300 static.  Jetting as follows.  Air screw 1 turn out. Idle jet #45. Needle jet 2.74. Jet needle 11G2, clip on #4 (bottom) position. Main jet 180.  Two turns out from full rich on HAC knob for 1125F EGT in climb at WOT.  1150F EGT in cruise 5900 rpm 2500 MSL , 3.5 turns out on HAC. Air temp was about 65 degrees by the way.  Haven't done any fuel burn testing or climb testing at different altitudes, but I seem to have a good set up for a starting point.

  7. Seeing 6300 static now and i like the performance.  see about 6550 WOT straight and level.  still a bit on the high side at wot in climb.  1150 but full rich on the hac.  Id like to be a little richer and be able to lean with hac for a little more room on both sides of the spectrum.  is anyone with a hac man running larger mains than a 180 size?

  8. I installed a Hac Man for my 582 from Green Sky Adventures whilst down for a decarbon.  I am running a #45 idle jet, 11G2 needle, 2.72 needle jet, and a 180 main jet as supplied with the hacman kit.  Clip is in the stock #3 spot on the needle. running full rich on hac knob i am seeing egts at 1175 in cruise at 6000 rpm, 40 deg f and 950 field elevation. Static rpm is 6400. Used to see 6300, Joey had same issue.  Today I will either switch from my 2.72 needle jets to my 2.74s or I will drop the clip to the #4 position on the needle or a combination of the two.  Perhaps too fine on the prop. I'll post the results.  Anyone with a hac on a 582 please chime in...

  9. I'm not sure you can eliminate the bellcrank. You need the reverser function to work with the Bing 54 slides.

I ended up making my own custom cables which came out great. The ferrels have to be soldered on after the cables are cut to length and installed in the sheaths. It required making a little solder pot out of a pipe cap which I heated with a torch.  If you're interested, I could dig up some pics and post them up.

same way i soldered the ferrules on my choke cables.  great minds......

  10. website is www.jbmindustries.com. send email to jbmindustries@att.net and tell him what you need.  he will then send you a paypal request. pay it and he send gaskets very quickly.  Good quality stuff from what i can tell

  11. I just installed the Hacman last week.  I havent used it yet as its been raining for three weeks.  Joey installed it on his avid a few years back.  He would be the one to ask.

  12. level the airplane with a four foot level against the leading and trailing edge at the third rib outboard with a flap hanger on the right wing.  basically where the lift strut meets the spars.  thats the point of reference to level the fuse.  then center your sticks and you can then find your flapperon angles.
