JIM! that's a good idea. I'm not sure that the original owner is still with us, the kit was purchased 34 years ago. I will try and find him though. The "built from parts" may work. I will have to contact a DAR and ask.

KF3 unstarted kit Information and direction?Well, folks. I need some direction.
I recently found myself with time on my hands. The first thing I did, was start looking for information and parts for the kitfox 3 kit I picked up a few years ago. It was kind of started by the previous owners, meaning the landing gear, floor boards and control mixer/ rudder pedals were loosely mounted.
I was looking through the printed manual and paperwork, and realized I have nothing for a chain of custody, except the original packing list to the original buyer with the kit serial number.
The wings, except for the flaperons, 2 13gallon ethanol resistant fuel tanks, struts and jury struts are missing. Basically I would need the spars, stiffeners, ribs, false ribs, bracing, brackets etc...
I have have used a tracing from JimChuk and pictures of KF3 ribs and managed a pretty close CAD file for a rib without a tail. I have a CAD file from Willja67 that matches fairly reasonably, and a Masonite template cut off of my cad file that matches pretty closely to the tracing. It wouldn't take much to get a template with a tail.
I have acquired the rest of the controls, except the tube that goes to the elevator (I have the other parts of the tube). I also went through and ordered pretty much all of the hardware out of the manual. There is no motor, mount, or prop, however, I have a bump style cowl.
With all of that said, with what I have read, it seems like it may not be possible to register it once built. Can anyone provide direction here? Would it be better for me to just sell the parts I have at this point?

If you're using the complete kit from Kitfox for your wings, you may have an issue. They don't offer the undercamber model 3 wings. This means you would need to use a model 4-7 wing and parts. Meaning your search for control linkage is null and void. You would need to retrofit model 4 differential linkage at a minimum. I don't know what the implications are in regard to the fuselage/ angle of incidence differences and how the wing would act. There are a few fairly complete Mk IV on Barnstormers.com right now for reasonable prices. You may look into one of those to either complete, or get parts from.

In search of/ WTB kitfox 3 ribsGreetings all, I am on the hunt for kitfox 3 ribs, all I need is one of each type in usable enough shape to make templates. If you have broken but nearly complete ribs, I'd be willing to by them.
I have been gathering parts for this project for some time now, and still need the ribs. I have a Highlander wing kit i was going to build and install, but I'm thinking of using that on a different project. One of the TOO many projects I always seem to have.

The "bubbling" appears to be weld over-penatration. As mentioned you could try to backpurge but I would suspect your tungsten is too large a diameter as is your filler rod as mentioned also. The amperage may be a hair too high and you may be dwelling. With thin wall steel and stainless steel you need to be moving along. I have made a lot of sugary stainless welds and a lot of overpenatrated welds with TIG in the past. None were critical but that is my $.02.
I know the post is old, but adding observation and suggestion for future viewers in need of help.

WANTED Model 3 Wing rib router templateI should have done this before I sold the 3 ribs I had. Does anyone out there have router templates for making the ribs and false ribs for the model 3?
I have a tracing 1Avidflyer sent me a while back but if someone has the template they'd either part with or loan I'd appreciate it.
