Doug the tool that you are looking for is called a torque adapter, if you do a search for 11mm torque adapter it will come up. Expect to pay $10-15 bucks and you don't have to deal with the guys at the airport. I would send a link but this site doesn't allow me to send links from my computer and IE .

Guess I can paste from the IPad.

Ron on my MKIV there are two bushing that are spacers, one on each side of the wheel that just slip on. Can' help with the wall thickness at this time.

I am no engineer ED but my  other plane (Q2) uses aluminum for both the elevator and the ailerons.  Have you made provisions for a mid-span support or will they only be supported at the ends only? I wonder what Just does with theirs or Rans on the S6 or S7.  I have to admit aircraft design is over my head.

    Emeraude for sale
If anyone is looking for a good buy on an airplane other than Avid/Fox check out the Emeraude listed on Barnstormers. I flew this plane yesterday and. If I were in the market for a third airplane this would be the one.

Well don't order a 1/2 sheet of plywood from Spruce or anywhere for that matter that it has to be shipped.  Made that mistake with ACS and about died when I got the bill, to their credit they did make it right even though a good deal of the blame rested on my shoulders.  Seem to recall the freight was about $175.00...  I know you said Luan which you can probably get locally.  They do make a nice dense plywood for underlayment  for new floors but I don't think it comes in anything less than 1/4".

  9. wypaul added a post in a topic Copilot brakes on MK IV

It is not a big job but does require a little welding and bending. The rudder peddles have to be removed to weld the tabs for the brakes on the Avid but maybe not on the KF. Might want to make sure you have a CFI that is willing and experienced in an Avid or KF before you make up your mind, many will not. I put them in my IV for a friend that flies with me that does my flight reviews, might say something about what he thinks about my rudder skills.

Fair it , sand it and make it look as good as you want it to look before you cover it with the fabric. Thought the fabric would do more than it does, think paint, it does not fill any faults.

Wow, Jack that cowl looks nice.  I flew behind a Revmaster  in my Q-2 for a few years and have a few suggestions about them.  The Posa carb works Ok after some setup tweaking and there is some good info about that available on line.  Also there is a mandatory safety mod that adds a setscrew to the needle to keep it from turning in flight.  I think I still have the info in my files if you need that.  It is an easy mod to do but important.  The heads supplied with these 80's model Revmasters were junk and they cracked between the valves.  The good news is that the new heads breathe  better and offer at boost in horsepower.  Most users replace the supplied oil filter with an automotive filter that saves weight and gets rid of the mess of cleaning the Revmaster filter.

I built some cooling ducts that kept the heads cool and also there are some things called "Cool Tins" that fit under the cylinders that help cool them evenly.  Head cooling is a problem with the VW so make sure to use CHT's.

Head bolts must be checked every 25 hours and the valves adjusted also with the oil change.  There have been some accidents caused by loose head bolts on VW based engines.  With the Cooling ducts like the Jabiru  my heads ran cool and the head torq stayed good for the most part.

The oil cooler requires a separate, dedicated opening in the cowl and ductwork to direct the air over the oil cooler, without it the temperature of the oil will redline within minutes.

There is an AD on the magneto impulse coupling that you will want to do also that is easy to do yourself with a file.

There is a video or two of a fellow in S. America I think, that is running a Revmaster in an Avid that is interesting.

I will send a personal reply to you with my cell phone if you have other questions.

Looks like you are doing a great job with your install.

  17. wypaul added a post in a topic Avid 912 Radiator scoop/shroud info needed

I have mine off and can take a picture when I get out to the hangar.  It really did not work that good (low airflow) with the 912 radiator because the air wants to take the path of least resistance thru the rest of the radiator.  I am planning a separate dedicated opening below the radiator.

  22. wypaul added a post in a topic So I guess i'm the fng for today. Ha

Hey Rod welcome.  I am wondering if you will sell Avid parts retail due to the fact that Avid is out of business, things like wing tanks (vinyl ester), cowlings and etc?  I know there has been a fair amount of interest in them here in the past.

I would like to hear more about what would cause the failure with the MK IV setup Larry.  I am running this setup and if there is some problem sure would like to hear what is going on, this is the first that I have heard this (which does not mean much, there is a lot I haven't heard about these sweet little planes).
