akflyer added a post in a topic Put my cowling back on tonite
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/camloc2600.php
there is a number stamped into the head of the camlocs. I have the 2600 series and most of the cowling ones on mine are -3, however, there are some -4 in the mix.

I am trying to remember, but I think there is a dash number on the head of the fastener. I know mine has some -4 and -5 mixed around for some frigged up reason. I will dig into it and check, but I am almost certain that they are numbered on the fastener. I am at work till Tuesday so I will have the kids take a good close up pic and email to me.

Mine was soooooo damn close I didnt bother trying to calibrate it closer... sometimes the square rooters make life more difficult than it needs to be. I like to keep it simple and fun!

RC FlyingJust got back from our anual SAM old timer event in Moose Pass. Was a killer weekend with lots of good flying. 5-10 MPH winds made for some good lift for those of us with balls big enough to hang on the mountain sides and risk loosing a plane.
It was tough to wake up every morning and look out the window at the mountains lol... Note the short wing piper death trap I flew up there lol.

I got mine from avid. Once I got it i figured I could have run to the local hardware store and picked some up. I had to put a piece in the drill then hit it with a file to get the OD smaller so it would go in the hole.. then run a 3/16" drill bit through it so I could put the pins in. All in all, not worth waiting on airdale for it to get to you as you should be able to find some around town that you can make work.

Marking... we dont need to stinking markings... <classic line Mine was never marked. I know it should have been but it is one of the things I have never gotten around to. I have seen posted online (take it for that, hearsay) that it is kosher to bump it to 125 VNE with rib stitching. I have flown to 120 in a shallow decent on the 2nd flight after the rebuild and the wings stayed on and fabric did not shred... that is just me.. I would not tell you to go try it in yours. The inspector never said a word about instrument markings when he came and inspected mine.
Damn Steve, me thinks you like playing the bad guy

The only reason I look forward to pulling the skis off is cause it will be time to go on floats! Fishing and camping out of the plane.. dont get much better than that!

That may have been engraved on the data plate, but it is not needed. Chech your paperwork and airworthiness... does it have a gross weight mentioned on it? Mine does not. If you have "paperwork" other than the data plate that the FAA has, I would like to see it. I have NEVER seen any FAA certifications for experimentals that had a weight figure listed.

friggin parrotsA man boards an airliner, takes his seat, and is surprised to find a
large purple parrot in the seat next to him. The aircraft takes off
and a pretty flight attendant walks down the aisle past the man and his
seat mate.
"Hey, bitch," says the parrot, "bring me a whiskey and soda, and make
it snappy!"
The flight attendant looks annoyed, but walks on.
A minute later, she walks back up the aisle, and the parrot pipes up
again "damn it, lazy whore, where's my whiskey?? Hurry it up!"
Visibly flustered, the flight attendant hurries up the aisle and
returns quickly with the parrot's drink.
Impressed with the parrot's technique, the man decides to get some
quick service for himself. "Hey, honey," says the man, "get me a dry
martini. And don't drag your sorry ass - I want it right now!"
The flight attendant turns red with anger and runs to the front of the
plane. In a moment she returns with the first officer and two burly
male flight attendants. The crewmen seize the passenger and the
parrot, jerk open the emergency door, and hurl them both out of the
airplane at 20,000 feet.
As the two hurtle out the door, the parrot says to the man, "Ya know,
for someone who can't fly, you got a lotta balls."

The original bill of sale on mine says that the gross is 1085... HOWEVER, there is no place on the FAA paperwork that says one peep about gross weight.. it does not exist for experimentals.. Nothin on the airworthines says a peep about it.. it is up to the builder. The only thing that may indicate a gross weight would be the phase one flight test records. As far as the FAA is concerened there is nothing in their paperwork that would indicate a gross weight. At least not on any of the paperwork I have for mine, which is everything the FAA has as I sent off for the CD of the info they had on file. 84KF's paperwork is the same as is every other avid or kitfox I have looked at the paper work on..

thye are gonna have to follow others leads... you can get a new lycoming 0320 delivered to your door for 150 bucks a month... if rotax does something like that I may have a 912 in the nose real dang quick More than likely, they are not going to make the pot that sweet.

The SST are a cherry max rivet.. they have a double mandrel so they dont work loose like a round regular pop rivet will. spend the extra few bucks and get the good ones! I didnt the first time cause I knew the aluminum brackets I made wouls not last long.. they were more of a test to see if the geometry would work. Now I will drill the out, make real brackets and put them on right. Little structural adhesive, few rivets and she will be there from now till the end of time, or end of airframe, whichever comes first

Nice bird! Sucks that you snow is going away. Ours is just getting good. We have a big storm blowing in from russia that should dump some good snow on us. We have gotten close to a foot in the last week and this storm should double that. It is a toss up for me which is more fun, floats or ski's.. real tough call on that one.
