You could get a FREE 6-cd set by calling and telling them that you want to use their products. I have it, and it taught me more about covering and finishing than they did in AMT college.

    GORILLA GLUE
After Leni said that he tried tests on several different glues, and Gorilla glue was the best, I decided to try it on some backing strips of plywood on the leading edge plywood.
My daughter was going to Walmart, so I asked her to get me some Gorilla WOOD glue. She came back with a bottle of the white stuff that looked like Elmers milk glue, but it was labeled Gorilla WOOD glue.
I asked if there was any other Gorilla glue there, and she said there was some clear-looking.
I tested the white Gorilla glue yesterday, and it doesnt seem to hold any better than Elmers glue.
Dont know about the clear, but want to make sure that if you buy any, then get the coffee-colored glue that Leni used.

Thanks for the reply Leni, I would like to see the pics you have if you could post them. You must really have it figured out pretty good to be able to fly in that cold of weather! Thanks, Jim Chuk

I used the Stewart System on N844RS, very user friendly. I also stapled my ribs with divergent SS staples. Goto to their site and download the CD,
    it's a great help. Russ.

I have not seen a firewall mount, but I do have some pictures on my laptop that shows my heat muff (I think) Mine works great and I fly at -30 without gloves in the cockpit. I put 2 muffs on mine. The first one is on the down tube from the Y pipe. That "preheats" the air pretty darn good. Then it feeds into the normal muff around the expansion chamber and into the cockpit. Works very well for me!

I have lots ..... I am amazed, disgusted and ashamed today. I pray the country can turn it around... The electoral college needs to go. Popular vote IS the majority of the people. We dont need any formulas to try and make it "fair".

    Avid 582 firewall muffler mount?
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any pictures of their firewall muffler mount. My Avid factory muffler mount is still okey, but I need to make a heat muff to warm up the cockpit. Having a firewall mount will allow the muff to be longer and that should let me get more heat off of it. Also if anyone has pics of their heat muff/heat system, I would like to see them. I'm in northern Mn, and am wearing a snowmobile suit allready when I go flying. Thanks, Jim Chuk

Thought you were using Stewarts - Polyfiber has nothing to do with their procedure - You could be using Ceconite, and it would still be Stewarts glue, paint and process. IMO, I think you should talk to Dan or Doug Stewart first.

P.S. My Avid Magnum manual says to use the staples in ribs instead of stitching?

I dont have the manual here at work.. I thought there was another section on wooden wings. I could be wrong, its been a few years. You may be right and on the top side, I didnt glue to the ribs untill I had stiched them, then I glued them down then put on the tapes. Would make sense that the underside would be the same. For some reason, I thought you had the undercambered wings. My bad

Yes i will be stitching the ribs also i have the flat bottom ribs NOT the under-cambered ribs. also in the poly fiber manual revision 21: pg 19 says "you won't cement fabric to the ribs themselves, since later you'll use rib lacing or some other mechanical means to hold the fabric to the ribs". and I know you glue through the fabric to the ribs before applying the tapes. hmmm

I dont know about stewarts... However, the polyfiber maual says to refer to your aircraft manufactures reccomendations for under cambered wings and light weight structures so you dont buckle them.. Like only shrinking to 275 MAX.

I'd say a call to Stewarts would not be out of order.

Are you planning to stitch the ribs? That may lead to the details on how you want to lay glue on them.

Hey! Merrill is my home field and I own a hangar there. No transponder needed.

But, then again KRRL is probably not what you are talking about....

Thanks Nate! I was pretty sure that you didnt need one. There are SOME exceptions though depending on what departure route you want to take!!

Stay out of ANC class B and you should be good to go.
