New Sport Pilot Regs In the Making
EAA has recently requested that the FAA add Cessna 150 and 152's as aircraft that can be flown with a sport pilots license.  I hope it passes.

I am still hoping for someone to post a weight for a bare fuselage, so I can compare mine before anything else gets added to it. Any Avid or Kitfox except Magnum.

Look in the KF4 forum here, I did a post about swapping the tail spring on my plane. I didn't measure them but did post pics showing the oem 1, 2, and 3 spring setups that would probably help. If you really need, I can measure them.

The locker fits in a wing bay with normal rib spacing, as do the oem 6 gal. tanks (aluminum or fiberglass). The 'compatible' comment, I suspect, simply refers to the ability to use both a locker and wing tank (in adjacent bays) in a single wing. I do not believe you could fit an oem 6 gal tank into a locker without modification. Remove the locker and install one of the large oem e-resistant wing tanks for the greatest fuel capacity.

Some folks are either too impatient or just downright ignorant of computer technology to understand someone might have been hacked, let alone be capable of recognizing when it is a high probability. Ready... Shoot... Aim. Sounds like they would do well in Washington D.C.

It had been awhile since I had looked over there. The site looks a little more contemporary now, but wow! The original post wasn't that bad. It looked like a link to something to do with asset management. I don't think I would have given it a second thought. It's a good thing the moderator banned Herman just a few minutes after the post, or things might have gotten out of control

yeah, looks like he had this down WAY before the nitro crew tried it.  maybe they should spend less time drinking and more time researching hahahaha.  He used a cut down wing to get some speed up, the Nirto crew tried it with a full size wing and were never able to build up enough speed to get it stable.

Came across this one today..... Looks like fun and a whole lot more successful than when Travis Pastrana tried it.

Yup Herman got hacked. I got junk in my personal email from him too. If you see this... Change your password Herman! I found it interesting that aside from trying to decide if a 20 ft trailer was long enough that was the most action "The List" had seen in a few weeks. Come on over guys...the days of exchanging technical information via email lists are antiquated at best.

Is it just me, or are the replys to the spam from Herman's hacked account (on the yahoo group) a little over the top.  Looks like a bunch of guys got up this morning and put on a barb wire Gstring and had the school bully give them a superman wedgie!

For the totally clueless... If you see email coming from a person that looks way out of the ordinary and out of character, DON'T OPEN IT!   It is generally not their fault, they are just a victim of hackers.  Hacker about closed this site down three times in the last few years and damn near caused me to throw in the towel, but I wont let these punks get the best of me!

I like a good debate and bare knuckles brawl myself, but this just seems a bit over the line and the moderator over there a bit to hasty to judge.  How the hell can you get to be a moderator when you cant even recognize the work of a spammer and not the individual who has been posting to the site for years

When you look at the bottom the reply box, there is a button to hit on the lower right side that says "More Reply Options"  When you click on that on the bottom left side of the box you should see a big paper clip that says attach files and a button under it that says "Choose files"  Click that then browse on the computer to where you have the file on your computer and click the picture.  This will upload from your computer directly to this site and you wont have to link through a 3rd party server like photo bucket or one of those sites.

Here is what I did. The change up I bought from airdale broke. The top spring is the original avid with the end cut off. The lower is a modified trailer spring.file://localhost/Users/admin/Pictures/iPhoto%20Library/Originals/2013/21-Sep-13/IMG_1138.JPGfile://localhost/Users/admin/Pictures/iPhoto%20Library/Originals/2013/21-Sep-13/IMG_1136.JPG
Sorry guys. Need to learn how to post a picture.

So after doing a little math I have determined I can remove my 2 header tanks and replace them with a 10 Gallon aluminum tank and still be within CG limits.  Does anybody disagree with this idea?  It would give me an extra hour of fuel, still be able to carry plenty of baggage and 350+ pounds of plt/pax.  I'm a little uncomfortable flying on the header tank only but it sounds like its a common practice.

Hey Snaps- Last time I saw you at the SPB, you were ass deep in trailer repairs and just a tad bit grumpy. Hell of a way to end the week, hope you made it home without any drama. BTW, who's the numbskull that ordered those tiny mugs for the CornRoast this year? On the bright side, I got a great deal on an iFly720 at the auction. One of only two with a custom SPA splash page on start up, pretty cool! See you guys next year, Doug

I kind of figured this was your issue due to the low EGT's.  The only way the EGTS will be that low is if your running way fat on the jets (but then it would miss and blubber and the plugs would be black) or the prop is over pitched (do to crappy tach).  When the engine is happy, the EGTS will be around 1100-1150 on take off/ climb out and the RPMS on climb out should be 64-6500 for best short field/ climb and around 62-6300 for a better cruise speed.  If your prop pitch is too low, you may have issues with EGTS trying to go over 1200 in cruise.  It is a balancing act that the IVO inflight prop makes VERY easy to do.  With that said, its not too bad to get a ground adjustable prop dialed in to give you acceptable performance also.

Glad you got it sorted out!

another vote for the Tiny Tach.  Third tach on my 582. max static rpm: UMA tach 4800 rpm, Aviasport Tach 7000 rpm, Tiny Tach 6250 rpm. They were all pretty equal until about 5000 rpm then the two needle tachs were off.

Reason enough to go w/a 3/leaf. Mine is nose heavy and requires quite a bit of up elevator trim.
