Not even a peep. But I've only placed it on this board (not terribly motivated to sell). I've dissasembled a good bit of it for a thorough inspection. Motor is rehung and I'm now reassembling.

DITTO THAT. I prefer the previous version.

The only think I like is an up swipe on the homescreen displays quick access to settings, flashlight and a calculator amongst some other things.

I guess I did a good job of totally hijacking Hermans post. Thanks for bringing the topic up Herman.

I got an email back from Wassau and indeed, they said send in your old one and "I'll build a new one".

So, it appears the concensus is that single and double leaf springs are not the way to go period and to build a 3-leaf spring.

Now, back to Hermans original thought about elimanting the centering cam or not?

Just on what I've seen lately if they are truly complete probably 7-10K. Having the grey head in the box doesn't seem to really appeal to folks.

And i was really hoping for some advice on how to lubricate the muffler bearing so when i rotated the air in my tires the brakes wouldnt lock up... Any suggestions? I did put one of the tires back on upside down because that side seemed to rotate faster then the other so i rotated it clockwise 180 degrees to give it a head start on the other tire

No, the series 5 cowl is too large for a series 4 without a lot of hacking. It would, however, fit my wider Avid+ almost perfectly and the graphics would be a keeper!

  11. dholly added a post in a topic 912ul Pierburg fuel pump FAIL

Back to the fuel pump replacement.

I should mention that the latest 912 fuel pump version is p/n 893-115. This is the basic, bare pump only and normally runs $175 or so at the 'big 3', add another $30 for the inlet and outlet nipples sold separately + S&H. However, because of the recent mandatory service bulletin on 912 fuel pump replacement, Rotax is making available a discounted replacement pump 'upgrade kit' for a limited time. You don't have to have a pump within the affected s/n's in the SB to get the discount.

The upgrade kit is p/n 881-360 and includes the fuel pump with o-ring and flange gasket, fuel line nipples, crush washers, (2) each new mount hex nuts and lock washers, and (4) ear clamps to reattach the fuel lines and fire sleeve. Cost was $98.00. If you have a SLSA, I believe Rotax is also offering a substantial discount on the replacement fuel pump assembly (p/n 892-546 pump w/ pre-attached pressure and suction hoses, part of the mandatory 5-year rubber replacement maintenance) 'upgrade kit' as well. This kit cost $155 vs. $500+ normally.

FWIW, Rotax has a 5-year replacement requirement for all 912 fuel pumps. If you are an ELSA timed out, previously balked at replacing a perfectly good working pump, choked on the cost involved in compliance or whatever etc., here's an opportunity to get one at a 50% discount or perhaps buy a spare. I ordered a second pump for the rubber replacement on my Aerotrek due next inspection.

I called John today and asked what was involved with changing it to a bump cowl,..he told me new motor mount etc,..completely different FWF , I thought maybe it was the same motor mount,..and new fiberglass isn't bad at $850- $900,..so chances are it will stay a smooth cowl,..but I will probably change the paint scheme down the road

for now I'm happy just to get back in a kitfox

I had asked the builder back when I first contacted him if it was the vinyl christen eagle logo and he said no,.he painted it on there, I am ok with it I guess,..my main concerns ..LSA 912UL  a kitfox and a tail dragger,..this one happens to be a 5 and capable of a 1550 gross even though registered for 1320  the builder is a mechanical engineer,..but to save time when he bought it he opted for the quick build on everything,..so it's basically a factory built plane,..he rib stitched her,..a big plus,..he bought the airframe in 98,..but bought the motor in 2005 finished it in  2006,..so getting the quick build options doesn't seem like it sped up his build ,..there isn't too much for SB's listed on the motor,..there is 1 that has 2 parts to raise the TBO time from 1200 to 1500 hrs,..it's got a little over 550 hours on it now,..if I pay the plane $20,00 an hr when I fly it,..come TBO time I can just replace it with a brand new 912UL, so that's the plan

allot of the new things work like the galaxy S4,.. double clicking the button twice and then holding a finger on the programs running to get the red
    -  like  OS6  you just slide the program you want to turn off up,.. other then that I haven't had any issues,..took me a few minutes to figure out how to turn off the dayyum lock ,..but got it under control for the most part,..I have heard of a few having their phones crash while doing the upgrade,..I had turned my phone off rebooted it and with nothing running in the back ground I did the upgrade,,

I'm an Apple convert.  I like the products.  I think this one may be a fumble, though...

The rudder hinges will tell you on the IV.  If it has standard hinges, it's a 1050.  If it has the "rod end bearing" style hinges it's a 1200.

    (2) New, never started Kitfox kits available.
    OK folks-

Just tossing this out for anyone interested in acquiring an unstarted Kitfox kit. I have a friend that has two complete kits that he has decided he will never get to building. These were ordered by him new and were going to be a father/son thing but, well, you know how fast they grow up. He said he ticked just about every option box at the time and it wouldn't surprise me. I saw a 2-pc fiberglass baggage area insert that I have never seen before. He believes he can gather up all the parts originally on the pull sheets fairly quick as he has kept pretty much everything in his hanger for years. Frames are in good condition with no corrosion and, if you look in the attached pic, you can make out the (2) white fuselages in the back corner. He is looking to me for pricing guidance, what say you?

    (1) Kitfox Model 3 w/ 582 gray head - 1050 lb. MTOW

    (1) Kitfox Model 4 (Firewall Back, no engine or mount) w/ bump cowl set (for 582 not 912 I think) - will confirm 1050 lb. or 1200 lb. MTOW when I get the serial #

    Thanks!

The update went fine for me, I did it on the lappy with a high speed Ethernet connection then flashed the phone. I've tried other updates via WiFi to a device directly and had issues. Seems something always goes bad, not to mention takes a whole lot more time. The overall scheme in iOS 7 utilizes a lot of thin black lines and/or letter fonts on a white background. Not cartoon-ish, but supposedly a 'cleaner' less 'busy' look but I find it harder for my eyes to quickly acquire info now. I much preferred the heavier white font on a black background. Ex., on the start splash page the date and time are in thin white font now which washes out against the light sky on my Kitfox pic splash page. Hey, I like my splash page and would appreciate a choice of schemes or font colors at the least. I did notice a B-I-G battery life difference and disabled several of the new auto features (particularly games which I never use), and I could care less if 99% of my apps auto update in the background. I always shut apps after using them to preserve the already short (IMHO) battery life anyways. Before the update I had to charge at least once daily given my typical usage, jury's still out but well see how it goes in real life. IIRC, poor battery life issues were quickly resolved with a revision after the iOS 6 update.
