    Russ,
You have just what I need.  The search continues to find something out here on the Left Coast.

I had this trailer built by local dealer, 25' X 8.5".  Through the door 98". inside 100"  Has elect. brakes, LED lights, side door interior lights, and roof vent.
Works great with the elect. winch I installed.

If you are building, it is far, far easier to lower and/or lengthen the footwell than it is to raise the overhead.

This is what my buddy did with his Avid-Kitfox hybrid. His was actually a C model avid fuselage to start.

Your best price for a new one might be at Sikeston, Missouri.PJ trailers are built by Mexican labor in Texas - they are well made.
There is a place in Montana that seems to have acres of used trailers for sale on internet.
There were some local guys here who would build a custom trailer very reasonable, but think they are retired now.

I made the mistake of not buying one here or there when going to Alaska to move my shop - I paid double up there for a used trailer that broke down in the Yukon, and then paid double for a new PJ in St. John, Canada to haul the first one back to Missouri - That was a very costly trip!
There are trailer-haulers in several states that will deliver one - A guy doing that from Iowa to Alaska stopped and helped me get going in the Yukon.

I'm in California and so far have only been able to come up with manufacturers in Indiana, Idaho, and Georgia.

I totally agree Leni. The skylight mod is a whole lot easier. The Kitfox 1 was about the same legroom as the early Avid, I think.
The Kitfox 2 had another inch of legroom, and probably same as 3 and 4?
Someone can probably tell you about the FatAvids - Airdale may have a little more - Bet Magnum does.
I am supposed to pick up a Fat-Avid / Highlander type fuselage Monday, and can measure that for you - but it may not be standard dimensions.
I'm so short that I raised the seat up about 8 inches, and the pedals toward me about 3 inches.

Depending on the seat, a lot of guys have to put a pillow behind them.  There is quite a bit or leg room in the fiberglass seat, and I was able to let the sling seat out enough that it was toes only to hit the rudder pedals.  I am 5'11"

Unless your real handy with welding, I would not be moving the wings etc.  Raising the skylight would not be bad for the first time builder, there are lots of guys that can talk you trough it that have done it.

    Hi Ed,
Thanks for the tips.  The biggest limitation is actually legroom, and to a lesser extent headroom.  Lots of mods I'm sure, but appropriate for a first time builder?

    Mark,
Any of the Avid and Kitfox models can be modified to fit a taller pilot - some have done this by moving the skylight upwards, and I completely raised the wings 6 inches on my Kitfox clone.
Raising the skylight is not a big problem, but you still have the bars on top of the Cockpit to cope with, but you could also modify them to clear your head. SuberAvid posted some photos of his raised skylight, and I believe another builder posted photos of his.
Raising the wings means not only modifying the fuselage upper part, but also making new wing struts, because the angle and length of them changes. The controls have to be modified too.
    Hope this helps.

Talk to any of the trailer manufactures.  You can have one custom built to your specs cheaper than I can buy a 10 yr old enclosed trailer up here.

One Idea.  Several of the trailers I looked at just had aluminum angle in the rear door frame for the door to seal against.  My plan at the time was to just cut out a section of the angle so the plane would fit through then put in a section that was a little longer with a few bolts and wing nuts so you could pop that section out in a few minutes.

Welcome aboard here, hope you find the place useful!

    Anyone in the NW?
    Hi all,
I posted a few times but I should probably write something here too.
First time builder wannabe.  I'm in Oregon, an hour east of Portland.  I fly a paramotor but would like to build something 'real'.  I would love to see an Avid first hand and chat about it if anyone is near by.
I don't have any project started, just looking and researching.  I have a PPL in a 150.  I'm tall but I fit fine in a 150, not so much a kitfox 4 or earlier.  So a nice project would be one of the plus-size avids that I can build from the ground up.  Seems like there are very few of them out there.  I can't go the kitfox route unless maybe it's a 5 - don't have $60k laying around!
Love this forum!  I'm happy to contribute to help with the server transition.
    Thanks
    Mark

Thought you might be interested in reading the form letter 'response' rec'd from my state Senator... more than 4 months after I emailed her office. And, no, she was not one of the 28 Senators signed a letter and sent it to FAA Administrator Huerta.

Not surprisingly then, her canned response appears fabricated to spark outrage at Sequestration rather than answer the REAL question... why the FAA is allowed to ignore a Congressional directive against user fees and demand additional payments for items that have already been budgeted for (FAA sends 64-80 controllers to AirVenture each year, selected by FAA management at the Central Service Area. These are all full-time FAA  controllers/supervisors, so the selected employees would be paid anyway, if they were not temporarily reassigned to AirVenture. Thus, the $500K FAA demanded from EAA was not for controller salaries, but for the added expenses related to working at AirVenture, such as lodging, per diem, and overtime.).

No response from my House Reps to date. Curious if anyone else who took the time to send their protest letter rec'd a response from their elected Congressional representatives?

Enclosed trailer for Mark IV Speedwing
I'm looking for an Enclosed Trailer for my Mark IV Speedwing.

I plan to trailer it long distances to fly out of various airstrips around the West.

The minimum folded width is 7 ft. 10 in.  I've already discoverd that the 8 1/2 ft wide trailers which have an 8 ft wide interior have a rear door opening that's less than 7 ft. 10 in.

Any information here would be helpful.

I do not know how many use the enmail option at yahoo. I never have. I log on to the web and look at the posts I am interested in, just like I do on this site. I personally have no use for an email option. It would just further plug up my already over-spammed email account!

Check out the Spruce catalog for more info - some 120 to 160 mph ASI have lower markings than others - Think my 150 I got from Spruce is marked at 10 or 20 - in storage with panel right now.

I would go atleast 120.. VNE on some of these is 135, and I routinely have it hitting 115-120 in a decent.. Well, that is 120 on the dream-o-meter anyway   The GPS rarely shows over 100 unless I have a big tail wind.
