    tank looks nice but on a different note, is there any provision for venting it back to one of the wing tanks, I didn't see a fitting for this in your picture.

    Wiring on old GRT EIS unit
    Anyone happen to have any manuals or knowledge on wiring the old two D plug style connectors on a GRT EIS unit ?  The newer units had one bigger D connector but this one has two smaller one.  I've been able to match up one to the engine inputs (egt,oil ps,cht i etc).  The second connector just has three wires so I'm assuming one is power, one is ground and the third goes to the warning light but they are not marked and I don't want to hook them up wrong and let the magjc smoke out.    The folks at GRT are looking but so far havent been able to find anything!

    Thanks,
    EG

    I took my finger strainer out and have a filter in the main line and a filter on each line before it goes into the carbs.

    We've been working on this for a while.  Not a ton of plans or manuals on the build... but plenty on the maintenance.  The fasteners are neither imperial nor metric.  Put about 7,000 hours into it.  And still a lot of improvements to be made, will take a few more years to refine. But the fuel injection and exhaust systems are definitely working well!

    Sorry, I wasn't sure where to post this... "general hangar"?  "close calls and dumb stunts"?? "For Sale"? "Hardcore"

    Let me know your thoughts and experiences...

    Wolverine,
          I would have to refer to my machinists manual - I thought NPT threads were odd numbered - like 1/4 - 27.
    If the thread numbers are correct on the 3/8 NPT, then is it really tapered thread?  Can you use a micrometer or dial caliper to compare the two fittings?  That's all I can think of for now.

    Look up Spectre 2369.  Most auto parts stores around here have them.  I use them on the Avid as well as my boats and plow truck.  Works great so far.

    Hey Guys;

    I kind up screwed up in the tank measures, I`m struggling to fit it on the desired place, I should have make it narrower in one side by 2" or more and compensate in the other side. But I think I can manage, I one guy in England made it for me for about 200$;

    I bought many AN-6 fittings on a racing store, MAN I went crazy here, like a kid in a candy store I couldn´t help it.... I just couldn´t stop buying things there... all fuel lines will be replaced either by aluminium or Teflon, so I don´t have to worry about fuel lines anymore (knock on wood).

    other thing I found, after I ordered the finger I was installing  Paul´s new modified F7A in the controls I need it to replace a little bolt and digging in my boxes I found a brand new  fuel finger strainer from my old Volksplane project (DAM) I hate when this happens, I´ve been waiting for this tiny little piece more than a week to proceed with the fuel fixtures and I had it all along.

    turned out the finger will screw nicely in the tank female 3/8 NPT hole, however I have a aluminium piece for the Teflon hoses (AN-4), same thing 3/8 npt 18tpi that doesn´t fit on the tank, thus the question earlier.... hmmmm.... see the pictures, they both check out with the thread gauge... anodized perhaps???

    if you want to use the header tank drawing I suggest you check measures in your plane, don´t know what you guys have behind the passenger seat exactly, and take into consideration the rudder cable as well, which is a easy fix....

    Regards
    Dimi3

    Ed,  I am using the same ones.  I believe they are Spectra.  I got them at the local Shucks Auto Parts but should be available at any similar auto parts store.

    An old man goes to the doctor. At the end of the checkup the doc says, "Everything looks pretty good, but for the final check I need you to take this container with you and bring me back a sperm sample tomorrow."

    The man says okay and goes home.

    He returns to the doc the next day with an empty container. The doc says to him, "What happened?"

    The man says, "We'll, first I tried with my left hand, nothing. Then I tried my right, still nothing. So I called my wife in to help. She tried her right hand, nothing. Same with her left. Then she tried her mouth, zip. Then she took out her teeth and tried again, no good. So she called the neighbor lady to come over. She tried both hands, her mouth and even put it und her armpit, still nothing. After she wacked it a couple times on the counter with out any success, we decided that the lid to that cup was not going to come off."

    Leni,
          Can you give the part number or where to get the kind of filters you use?  Some filters have paper in them and I understand that they are not the kind to use.
    Got a photo?
    Thanks,

    I have a glass filter with changeable plastic screens in them before the header tank, then one after the header tank.  And a valve right above the filters.  I can shut the valve, pull the filter apart and clean the screens in a minute or two.  I clean them about every 20 hrs but only once have I found any fibers in them.

    What filters before header tank?  I thought the fingerscreen was the only one.  Doug posted something some time ago that the fg fibers couldn't be seen in some other filter, and clogged his up.  Maybe fingerscreens should be made twice as long, to lower chances of clogging by 50%?  Maybe pull them more often?
    Good subject for discussion.

    The original screens were brass so they could be soldered to the fitting.. Aluminum dont solder into the brass fitting very well.

    It was only a couple years ago that the conventional wisdom was to pull the screens and let the filters before the header tank that you can see trap the crap so you dont end up with a plugged screen and no way to check it or bypass it... cause when that happens, your options for landing get really limited depending on the phase of flight your in.
