Helicoil repair

Can you use a helicoil repair kit to replace a stripped plug in a cylinder head? I should have explained it is on my 503 rotax.

There was an interesting video on youtube where a guy does pull tests on aluminum.  Amazing how much more it took to pull out the helicoil threads compared to just taped threads.  JImChuk

Yes, it will work great for you.  I had a Revmaster with a plug installed at the factory without thread lube and pulled the threads.  I took it to a speed shop for the repair because I wasn’t comfortable boing the repair myself.  Bottom line, it worked great with no future problems.  Just had to install one in a friends 912 engine block the other day.

Brett at Leading Edge Airfoils said you don't get the right heat range if you do that

Just talked to another Rotax repair station and he said he has done it before with no problems.
