  1. hey Jim great to here I knew you could sell it up in your neck of the woods. ok guys what does it do when extending the elevator. I thought long and hard about this, mine measures 1 inch smaller that the early kitfox 4 1050 I measured and I have been in that model 4, and never noticed any problems, what issues would that be fixing?

  2. I actually slid a .049 tube inside the trailing edge of the vertical full length if it still moves I will also put wires on it thanks for the reply.

  3. worked all weekend on her again  got the rudder finished, a few trusses under the seat, spar stiffeners in, and had to stick them on the plane I love it.post-999-0-41322400-1418597008_thumb.jpgpost-999-0-89462100-1418597047_thumb.jpgpost-999-0-14369400-1418597066_thumb.jpgpost-999-0-48362600-1418597083_thumb.jpgpost-999-0-60266200-1418597109_thumb.jpgpost-999-0-11812900-1418597132_thumb.jpg

  4. here is a good question for you guys I have been looking at the manual about building the wings for my kitfox 1 and it states place the wing strut attach brackets on the spars, it gives a measurement of like 86 1/2 inches then it says drill, debur, glue and rivet. Now to me it makes more sense to hose clamp them on, then after rigging attach them. like I see pictures of people doing. what do you guys think

  5. If I was to adapt my 912 to my kitfox 1 would it be wise to straiten out the vertical of my plane. right now I stand behind it and my vertical is a couple degrees to the left which I'm sure works well for the 2 cycle but how bout the 4 cycle. anybody else have this issue

  6. Hey guys I have 4 spars here 2.5" 2024-t3 .083  and I see the book says 6061-t6 .065 for my kitfox 1 would you use the heavy ones or order new ones from spruce. also I have the stiffeners shaped like a Z, 48" long would you use those or get the updated I beam. thanks

  7. well I flew most of the morning but did manage to set the incidence on the horizontal today and add a strap to the lower carry thru man I really gotta start my build log, love to build but hate to write on paper.

  8. thanks Jim I went out 2 inches on each side. and the carry thru I have a piece of .125x1" strap I was going to weld across the bottom, should help by not adding much weight. I had thoughts of drilling a half inch hole in the bracket and sliding a rod inside the tube, but you basically cut your whole lower longeron in half when you do that. not my style I guess.

  9. Hey guys I got a couple hours tonight after work tonight to play with the kitfox 1 here she is all widened out what you guys think. I think it was well worth the 5 lbs of weight.

  10. Hey guys just posting some of my latest pictures here not much happened this week, as my full time job is getting in the way again, man I love those days off during the holidays. anyway I am having fun building, tonight when I get home from work I should have some 4130 tubing from spruce waiting on my door step for me, post-999-0-14800900-1417695353_thumb.jpgpost-999-0-57767300-1417695416_thumb.jpgpost-999-0-58019500-1417695461_thumb.jpg

  11. so you say you would like less washout that is nice to hear, so when I start on my wings what do you think I should set them at. I think I convinced myself to just use the kitfox 1 ribs that I have just the way they are. keep this one simple and light. I do think I am going to stop the wing at 144 inches keep that in mind.

  12. where did you get the kitfox 4 wing template I would like to play around with that mod too. also I see the kitfox 4 has a truss design in the rib web, where yours and mine don't do you think that was changed for a reason. and why the leading edge extension? what do you think it will add to performance. Thanks

  13. Hey guys just wanted to introduce my self and tell you I bought a kitfox 1. It looks to be an untouched kit, just got it in the garage today, I'm excited to start on it. bought it from Jim, nice guy and want to say thanks, not sure how much customizing I will do to this one, thinking about keeping it simple for once. Maybe some small stuff would like to beef up the lower carry thru, I guess, well that's all I got for tonight Ill post progress later.
