Removing floats for the winter, putting gear on - information requestedAll,
I will be removing the floats on my Avid and putting on the bungee gear, so I can fit it into the garage for the winter. I have watched a video on the procedure for a kitfox. Chain hosted the nose while supporting the tail.
Question
What would be the best lifting point on the nose?
Any other tips greatly appreciated.

Fuselage Cleaning (Inside)All,
Hope this is the right place to start this thread.
The inside of my fuselage is filthy. The Avid Flyer has sat inside the hanger since 2003.
It is sitting on floats, and so the fuselage is in a level position. There is a additional 9 gallon fuel tank in the rear (directly below the turtle deck). Sometime between 2003 and when I made the purchase this past summer, the rear fuel tank leaked and mixed with hydraulic fluid (retractable gear and hydraulic brakes). Add a few years of dust and dirt, I have a big mess.
Question – What should I use to clean out the stain besides a match?
Anyone have any luck with certain types of cleaners?
Thanks,
Robin

TreeTopAirways added a post in a topic Control linkage
Akflyer,
Yes, it is on top of the rod that connects the flaperons.
High Country, thanks, parts are on order!
ChrisB, do not have a picture at the moment.
The part is broken right at the weld.
Thanks All!

Control linkageAll,
I need to replace this part. It is located in the AFT Aileron Assembly. It connects the main (aft) Aileron pivot arm to the push pull tube. Any Help appreciated.
Thanks,
R Floyd

Chris,
That makes two of us on flying or riding in a float plane. I found out it was for sale, and said to myself, " I gotta have that" lol, My float instructor is up in Alaska. He will return in August. He has flown this plane many times, and said it is a great little performer on the water. Since he will not return until August, I will remove the floats, and put the "bungee" gear on her, then see if I still can fly a tail dragger. This will give me a chance to look the floats over, weigh them, make any repairs, grease the bearings and such.

Thanks Guys! Ron, TLC – During the pre-buy I found one of the flaperon "hangers" was loose. I could move it about 1/16 of an inch. Both wings at the fuselage need re-taping. There is one patch on the horizontal stabilizer that needs to be re-done. I will have to replace one of the flaperon linkages. Fortunately the A&P who has performed the inspections will do the upcoming annual. I also will work with the float instructor who has flown the aircraft.
The aircraft and I are in Walla Walla Washington.
AV8r3400 – The engine is the 582 gray head. Has the 3-1 gearbox.
Dynomike, - not for sure on the brand of floats, they are fiberglass.
High Country – I will take pictures of the panel and post after work.
Robin.
