  1. Thank you both. Teal Jenkins has a c box, Skytrax adapter, and rk400 clutch that actually belong to one of his customers. I talked to him, he gave me a price, and I am seriously considering making the purchase. The components are claimed to be new, and Teal seems like a trustworthy guy. If I buy these components, I should be good to go.. I think.

Teal is a great guy to deal with. I highly recommend him and you can trust anything he claims.

  2. They stopped making them a few years back. When everyone heard they were stopping production everyone (including me) ran out and bough the last ones. You can still buy new internal parts. You will have to look for a good used one.

  3. When you guys have bought or sold an Experimental have you signed or had the buyer sign a form to release of liability?  Is there any such pre-made form out there for this?

  4. Yes I spelled it out to him last night. Basically told him that he needed to come look at the plane himself, take a ride in it, make a decision to buy or not, pay me and then its his to load and haul away.  I'm not going to put up with anymore bullshit. If you cant come get a plane you buy you might want to reconsider the purchase in the first place......just say'n.

  5. Now the drama starts. When I have agreed to buy any airplane I've had the means and ability to go get the thing myself. I've been asked to haul it to them, fly it to them, check someone out in it and meet them half way. If you can't come get the damn thing yourself don't waste my time.

  6. It's pretty easy to just replace the o-ring. Check out the or ring store in Clarkston Wa. I've gotten any o-ring any size any material that I have ever wanted. Saved a bundle on Lockwood prices and they deliver fast!

Did that. The first time I tried to drain fuel from them they leaked for an hour. I'm selling the plane so its getting new (rebuildable) ones so I dont pass a problem onto the next owner,

  7. I need to replace the curtis drains on my Mark IV. Does anyone happen to know what I need to order. The auto o-rings I installed are not working. Every time I check fuel they drip. It's annoying. I'd like to get something that I could replace the o-ring in when they need it.

  8. The 912 I am using on my Zenith 701 project came off of an Avid Mark IV. The stock brackets for the coils and modules are removed and the whole electric assembly is moved to the Avid (and maybe even the KF) engine mount. I need the stock brackets to put it back to stock. Does anyone have these laying around? Picture attached. I would like 32, 31,30, 29, 28, 14 and 43. If I could just get the brackets (29 and 14) I can find or make the rest.

  9. Same as SuberAvid....I checked the box "built from parts" and got away from needing a bill of sale or receipt from the factory. I had to do the 51% checklist also and it was easy.

  10. With regret I’m putting up my Avid Mark IV for sale. I’m moving to a bigger airplane. Most of you know this plane or have seen me post about it so I’ll put it up here first. Great flying, back country capable little plane. Joey can give a second opinion on this plane as he has flown in it with me.

2118 Avid Mark IV Heavy Hauler with 68 hours TT. 136 hours on a GH 582. Three blade warp drive with C  (3:1) gearbox. Engine has never ran anything but 91 non-ethanol fuel and Amzoil Intruder oil. Standard steam gauges with a Belite multi function gauge. Extended baggage compartment. Two 14.5 gallon fuel tanks. Ram mount, power ports and remote GPS antenna installed for a stratux receiver. Handheld and intercom included. Plane will come with a condition inspection. The price is 16k. Priced under current market value.  I also have snow skis and a custom trailer I would make someone a great package deal on. My friends say I’m crazy for letting this go but it’s time for a bigger plane. Feel free to ask for picture or information.

  11. The difference is mine is castering and the one pictures above is steerable.

I would guess you have to have individual brakes with a castering nose wheel. Once you get slow enough the air over the rudder won't do much.

You are correct. I have the same set up on the Magnum and it handles wonderfully. It steers very easy with very little brake pressure.

  12. I still stand by my original post that that hand brake is gong to get you in trouble in an unsuspected crosswind. Are the toe brakes the best I have flown...hell no but with some practice I find them easy to operate and they give me plenty of control over this light aircraft when needed. Most people cant keep their feet off of them and I was the same way until I learned how to fly them. It comes with practice. I will say that anyone with a shoe larger than a size 10 would have a much harder time with these small peddles. I have to wear a specific shoe when flying my Avid.
