MatthewTanner, could you post photos of how you hooked into your water passages and how you turn the system on and off from the panel?
Thanks, Looks good!  I bought the 6 hole one.

Here is the link to the other discussion on this form. From this link you can find a lot of additional information and the plans Chris B posted.

I got the carb drilled today. I have to say it was a little nerve racking drilling the last hole from inside the carb slide areas but if you take your time and measure carefully it’s pretty easy. The measurement from the larger opening surface is 1.90”. I hit the side holes exactly. I used a 582 head vent (which I had in my stuff) with an oring and a little permatex aviation sealer. It’s all installed on the plane and looks great. All I need is my jets and I can test the system.
Thanks to Chris B.  for the great documentation. If you follow his lead you will not go wrong.

Here is a picture Turbo mentioned of the vacuum pump system cowlove posted on the other thread.
Here is a picture of my system. It’s pretty much to the plans Chris put out. I tried some poly reducers and fuel line but the poly reducers are weak and smash easily. The fuel hose is harder to work with and harder to get off the barbs if you need to take it apart.
Turbo, I am interested in the vacuum pump set up but have already made an investment into this system. I can easily be swayed into changing gears in a project but have learned it cost time and flying. If this does not work for whatever reason I might take another look.
    More to come.

I’ve already decided to use the control valve I have until I come up with something different. It mounts well and is plumbed already. Not a lot of thee turn options out there that work for this application and where it is mounted.

Well Damn!! This valve I have is about 15 turns from open to close. Guess I better look at something else.

I would have went with the in-line brass one had I found it when I was looking. I have poly 90 fittings if you need them. I had to buy 10 to get 1.

One blade should not be smaller on the end than the other. If you are looking for another prop I have a GSC three blade 64" with LE protection I'll make you a good deal on. I got a smoking deal on a Warp so I bought it.

  12. NorthIdahoAvidflyer added a post in a topic Best ground loop explanation I've seen

I had mine after 43 hours. I would not say I was cocky but more complacent. I was coming back from my longest cross country trip. I was tired and in a hurry to get home for a dinner engagement with my wife. I listened to AWOS at my home airport and it reported 23 @ 7. We have a 24 runway so i decided to use it. When I started monitoring the airport frequency the traffic was using 20. Instead of landing on 24 like I had planned I decided to land 20 with the other traffic. When I tuned final I was directly into the sun. I flared to high and sat down crossed up. I could not see but thought I could make it work. The next thing I remember was seeing the yellow center line out my left door. I over corrected with left rudder and was stabbing in left rudder to fix that when the tailwheel broke loose. The good thing was I had slowed the plane down a lot. As I felt it going around I leaned right and dove right aileron into the turn. She stayed on her feet and did a beautiful spin clear around on the runway. I sat there thinking "God I hope no one saw that". I looked across the taxiway and there stood the fuel truck driver with a big smile on his face. Asshole......
What did I learn. Runway 24 would have kept me out of the sun, would have gave me less of a crosswind component and would have put me closer to my hangar. As soon as I turned final I told myself that I should go around and use 24....I didn't listen.  Fly the plan, go around if it does not feel right, stack the odds in your favor as much as possible when flying a short coupled TB and stay in control of the plane.

I will try and find the receipt or get you the model and part number off the control valve. I think I got it off Ebay and I ordered two before getting the right one. $25 range. I will let you know.

Thank you Chris for the the great explanation. Was it a head nipple you ordered or some other part?

Saskavid, how did you make your carb nipple? I’ve been having a hard time finding one. I have a friend who can make anything on a lathe.

I think that may be the stuff on these old Curtis drains. Sticky stuff.

Chris, I have two questions. What did you use for the orifice restriction and where did you source the filling for the carb with the 6M-1 thread?

That's what I thought at first but this stuff is a lighter color and does not smell like that nasty Permatex.

I have been using teflon tape but I cut it back about 4 threads with a razor knife before installing the part. Seems to work but I have always felt there is something better to use.

Sealer used for fuel fittings ect.
I just reinstalled all of the Curtis Drains on the plane after replacing all of the o-rings. I have an old set of drains out off of another project and they put them in with some kind of brownish sealer. After years the stuff is still tacky. I was wondering if you guys install your drains with some type of sealer or teflon tape?

Yes one would think you would stay with standard jetting but obviously other forces are at work. Not sure I want to test the theory but do you think that would change if you installed a one way check valve in-line coming from the air filter? That should eliminate any back flow coming from the filter side when the valve is shut. Just a thought.

Chris, Joey said the same thing. I guess I'll start with 190's. I think I have 165's now.

nlappos, correct me if I am wrong but the people I've spoke with say the kit comes with larger main jets than they ran stock. Joey and Chris both have installed larger main jets.
